What the hell?Reece was abruptly dragged away by four pairs of hands on his arms. He looked back at his new friend, only the force that propelled him forward, gave him no chance to stall. Wrenching his arms free from his kidnappers, Reece made a beeline for Samantha and Cody.

“Hey, Reece, what’s up?” His sister-in-law turned away from the couple with whom she chatted.

He took a minute to catch his breath. “Damn, girl. I just got hassled by a horde of old aunties. What the hell is beta? Like some damn computing language or somethin’. Since when do old people talk code?” he snorted in annoyance.

“Calm down, bro.” His brother slapped him on the back with a laugh.

Samantha chuckled. “I think you mean beta as in son in the Hindi language.”

“You’re kidding?” Reece blanched.

“What happened,” Cody asked.

“I met this woman, and we were talkin’. Next thing, I’m dragged out of my chair. Someone said somethin’ about the wrong table. Sam, what the hell is chood hail?”

“Huh?” His sister-in-law’s brow puckered in confusion. “Where were you sitting, and who were you talking with?”

Reece turned and pointed at the table. His mystery lady vanished. He groaned. “There, but I lucked out on her name.”

“Trust my playboy brother.” Cody sniggered. Reece threw him a frustrated glare as his brother turned away to chat with someone.

Samantha shook her head as though confused. “Reece, I’m sure you heard the wordchudail. It means witch. The aunties tend to use it on women they don’t like or believe she’s some evil person.”

“What?” Reece popped his eyes wide open.Fuck, did I have sex with a witch?

“No. Not evil in the way you think.” Samantha laughed. “More like someone who goes against the norm or behaves in a manner the older people don’t like.”

Reece laughed. Given the beautiful stranger’s spunk, he wasn’t surprised the older people mistreated her. They robbed him of the opportunity to get to know her better. “Sam, you don’t know who she is, do you?”

Samantha smiled. “I wasn’t involved in the seating. I’ll check.”

He fisted his palm in annoyance. “All I know for sure. She’s a beaut with stunning gray eyes.”

“Gray eyes, huh?” Samantha appeared to contemplate the words for a moment. “It might help.”

His brothers and Chance gathered around for a toast. While glasses clinked, Reece hoped to find his mysterious lady. Sex with her stole his breath and left him desperate for a second chance. Something told him, a tad more lay beneath the puzzling smokescreen she hid behind. Intrigued, he wanted to peel away the hidden layers to learn everything.
