“I–I...this is not a good idea,” she whispered as her shaky fingers fumbled with her shirt.

“What?” Words failed Reece. Was the woman yanking his chain? He just made her come.

“I—”

“Mom?”

With an abrupt shake of her head, she turned hastily and opened the door. Cursing silently, Reece whipped off the towel as she stepped out then pulled on his briefs and jeans. He struggled to get his hard-on covered. Frustrated and horny, his gaze landed on a cat he hadn’t noticed before. It lazed on the bed, tail swishing while it licked a paw. “What the hell are you looking at?” He glared at the cat. “Damn, you’re one ugly critter. Where the hell did they find you?” The large gray animal stared at him through round orange eyes as though he’d insulted it. “And where the hell are your damn ears? You look like a goddamn owl.” Reece zipped up his boots with a scowl. “Jesus, I’m talkin’ to a freakin’ cat.”What has that woman done to me?Annoyed, he left the room.

Aria stood at Prisha’s door as it opened. Still shaken, she dropped down in front of the little girl. “Hi, sweetpea, sorry I took so long. I needed to help Reece.”

Reece pulled on his parka and zipped it up. “I think it’s more like the other way around,” he teased and earned a glare from steely gray eyes over the child’s head.

“Huh?” Prisha half-turned. Her curious gaze sought his.

“Nothing, Sweetpea.” Aria cupped Prisha’s chin and turned the little girl’s head to face her once more. “Reece helped out with the plumbing.”

“Yeah, it seems like more than one pipe leaked today. Good thing I was around. I couldn’t plug the hole, but I sure as hell caught the leak,” he tossed over his shoulder and sauntered away. Let Miss Ice Queen answer that question. And when it came, Reece grinned.

“How many pipes were leaking, Mommy, and how did he catch the leak?” The little girl asked as he rounded the passage and let the front door close behind him.

Chapter Ten

Angry with herself, Aria eyed her coffee while she waited for Kelly at the coffee shop. Sleep evaded her restless mind. She’d tossed and turned throughout the night.Who the hell did the man think he was?Technically, she’d started it with her bold behavior. If it were possible to kick herself, she’d give her butt the boot, heels and all. Her body shuddered at the thought of his hypnotizing fingers and their ministrations. In her eight years of marriage, she came once, on her wedding night. In the two instances, she’d indulged with Reece; she orgasmed thrice. The man or rather his sexual expertise reigned supreme.

“Hate to break it to you, girlfriend, but if you expect the coffee to talk back to you, it’s never gonna happen,” Kelly teased as she slid into the opposite seat.

Aria glanced up and attempted a half-hearted grin. She usually met her friend for lunch when Kelly got a break at the school. Today, however, proved an emergency. Aria left the office then begged her friend to meet for an early dinner. She couldn’t handle being around Reece and his effervescent personality anymore. Kelly zipped home to leave the two girls with her mother hence her tardiness.

“So, what’s up?” Her friend sipped her latte she’d collected at the counter.

“Reece.”

“Okay, what’s new, then?” Kelly rolled her eyes and laughed.

“He’s rude and presumptuous.”
