“I can see you’re a man who’s either very volatile or sickeningly controlled. But trust me when I say this, I’m a man you’ve already crossed and I’m giving you fair warning only because you seem to care deeply for my daughter. Your love, however, is not my concern right now. Ria’s wellbeing is. I assure you, though, I will come for you, it’s just a matter of time.”

“I will find you even if it’s in hell.”

“And I have no doubt you will and I will be sure to save you a seat right next to the devil himself.”

“Trust me, I am the devil,” I sneered, my tone lined with unhinged darkness.

“Goodbye, Mr. Morrone.” The call disconnected.

I tried calling the number again and it went straight to voicemail. “What the fuck!” I roared after several tries.

“What’s wrong, Gabriel?” Kat came running out of the building.

“Someone took Ria. He says he’s, her father.”

Kat frowned. “Did you call Harsh?”

I didn’t answer but dialed Harsh. “Voicemail.” Next, I tried Bhavna. “Voicemail. What the fuck’s going on.” I dialed Ishara. “Voicemail.” I dialed Declan. Pressure built in my chest, pressing downward and I felt like I was having a heart attack.

“Jesus, Gabe, what’s—”

“Where’s Ria?” I barked, cutting him off.

“I’m not sure. Ishara called me an hour ago. After her hello the call disconnected. She was calling from Ria’s phone. I tried calling back, no answer. What’s going on.”

“I need you to run a trace on her number. Someone’s taken her,” my voice broke on the last sentence. I swallowed hard. “I need you to find her, Declan.”

“On it.” He cut the call.

I turned to look at Kat, my head a chaotic whirlwind. “I’m catching the next flight out. You finish up this job and follow me.”

“Sure.” I moved to walk away and she stopped me. “Gabriel?”

“Yeah.” I glanced at her over my shoulder.

“We’ll find her.”

Nodding, I jumped into the rental car and drove straight to the airport, my body numb, my head pounding, my heart in a furnace. “I can’t lose you, baby girl.” I white-knuckled the wheel and stepped on the gas.
