“Jake Steiner,” Nathaniel replied.

“Does she know about the memory card?”

“No.” He reached for his cigar and dragged on it for a bit before looking at me. “How you get your hands on it, is completely up to you but she is not to find out.”

I nodded. “And the person sending it, does she know who he is?”

Nathaniel frowned. “You do ask a lot of questions, don’t you?”

“If my life depends on it, then yes.” I held back my grin.

He sighed. “Ah, yes. She knows who he is. He, however, won’t hesitate to get rid of her. Collateral damage and all that.” He waved a hand in the air like it bored the shit out of him talking about a girl’s life.

Slipping my hands into my pants pockets, I nodded. “On a scale from one to ten, how dangerous is this memory card if it happens to fall into the wrong hands? You know, in case shit happens.”

His brow creased. I could tell he was contemplating the importance of my question. Would he trust me? “Well, Gabriel, you’ll have to take damn good care of your fucking shit then, won’t you?” he sneered, his true self making an appearance. “This is a three-part deal, but the first card is useless without the other two and someone has gone through a lot of trouble to make this transaction as smooth as possible. So, I want that fucking card at all costs. Do I fucking make myself clear?”

I nodded. “Where do I meet her?”

His smile was sly, the grin of an evil bastard in the making. “There are only two people that knew about this deal. Now, there are four. Fuck it up and there aren’t many choices of who I’ll go after first. Come back an hour before seven on Friday evening and I’ll share the relevant details with you.” It seemed like the fucker wasn’t taking chances. “Until then, watch your back.” His laugh maniacal, he walked off.

Grinning, I walked out with Remo.

“Don’t forget. His name is Jake. Tall, good-looking, sexy build and longish hair. He’ll be waiting at the bar for you. You sure you don’t want to look at his photo?”

I bit my bottom lip and shook my head at Ishara on the phone screen. “Then it won’t be a blind date, right?”

“Yeah.” She rubbed a finger along her bottom lip. “You know your father will have my head for this, right?”

“Please don’t ruin my night that hasn’t even started yet by reminding me of that man.” I scowled. “And that’s if he finds us.”

My cousin’s laugh was low. “I’m sorry. Go get him, tiger.” She growled using her fingers to imitate a clawing tiger.
