Taking it, she settled back against my chest and began to reading the letter out loud.

My dear Krisha

If you’re reading this then it means your father and I are no longer around. It pains me to bring this news to you via a letter when I should’ve told you about this the second you were old enough to understand. If by now you haven’t learned the truth or found her, then please take my words to heart, I am sorry.

You, sweetheart, have a twin sister who was unfortunately kidnapped two days after you were born. We never stopped looking for her, and there were days when your father and I were so distraught we couldn’t give you the affection you deserved. We eventually decided it was better for you if we never told you the truth. It was never our intention to keep it from you, we just did it out of love.

Wherever Ashrika is, yes, that’s the name we’d given her, we pray and hope she has had a good life and hopefully one day you get to meet her. And if you do, please tell her that we never forgot her. Everything we’ve done in life for you has always been a plus one. If she needs to see the extent of our love for her then daddy’s attorney will provide her with a key to a storage facility that will show her.

I am hopeful that you two will meet and both daddy and I receive both our girls’ forgiveness, even in death.

Lots of love,

Mum

“Oh, my word,” Ashrika turned and sobbed against my chest for the second time that day.

“Does it help knowing the truth, Angel?” I asked when her body finally stopped shaking.

“Some. If Ashrika is my name and I never met my family, how did I remember it? When did I hear it? God, I have so many questions.”

“And we will get you the answers. Get some rest now and when you’re ready to talk to Trent, you tell me, okay?” I settled her in the crook of my arm.

She nodded and as she drifted, I hoped that within a week, she’d make a final decision for her life.

Ashrika

“YOU OWN INCOGNITO?”I gawked at Zayne.

He stepped back as I climbed out the car and stared at the building. During the day, it appeared a lot less glamorous, yet still retained a certain charm.

He nodded. “I figured it’s time you knew who you were married to.”

“Really?” I arched a brow, not meaning to come across as sarcastic, but I couldn’t help myself.

Zayne chuckled. “I deserved that.” With a hand on my lower back, he walked me into the club. “There’s no one here during the day, except for my admin staff. I thought I’d give you a tour,” he explained as we entered the foyer.
