“It’s just a little shit, sweetheart.”
“Really! Just a little shit. My boots are covered in the crap! Pun intended. I can’t get out of here, because this whole place is like one big giant yard of poop. Get me out of here.”
Trent and the kids had taken me on a tour around the farm which turned out to be acres and acres of thriving fruit and vegetables. Only, I ended up visiting the dairy part of the farm and walked right into cow shit that literally covered the whole yard. While they were suitably dressed and I wasn’t one for fashion, Prada boots and cow shit didn’t see eye to eye.
Nicky and Neha chose that moment to come riding in on horses and burst out laughing as they watched my dance of shit.
I glowered at them. “I’ll get you guys.”
Immediately Nicky’s face turned somber. “Sorry, mommy.”
I felt bad and surprisingly I calmed down, took one look at my boots and began laughing. Nicky’s smile returned.
Trent walked toward me and I grinned. “I thought you said it’s just a little shit.” At his cocked brow, I added. “Then why are you walking around it like they’re landmines.” I folded my arms waiting for him to reach me.
“If I can avoid it, why not?” He grinned, stopping an arms-length away. The hot steamy cowpat between us was huge. He held out a hand. “You’re going to tramp more, nothing you can do about, sweetheart. What are you doing this side, anyway?”
I gave him a sheepish smile. “I followed a piglet and it ran, I didn’t realize what I’d walked into until it was too late.” Laughing I reached for his hand and stepped tentatively toward him trying to avoid the softer piles.
It happened so quickly I didn’t see it coming, neither did Trent. I thought he had a firm grip on my hand and as I stepped forward, I slipped and without thinking, jumped toward him. Trent was a strong man, but no man was prepared for cow shit. He slipped.
“No...” I yelled the same time he cursed.
“Fuck!” He fell backward, ass-first into a pile of shit with me safe on his lap.
We sat there for a full minute, looked at each other then burst out laughing, making the kids giggle.
“You could’ve just laughed about it,” Trent mock scolded me. He pushed me up and stood.
“What’s the damage,” I asked, looking at his jeans.
“Just my ass, fortunately.” He grinned and walked us back out of the mess. “I’ve got a pair of shorts in the truck.” He checked the back of his pants. “It’s not a lot.”
Five minutes later, I gave up trying to get the stuff off while he went to change into his shorts. When he returned looking just as sexy as he’d done in jeans, I followed him around.
“Wow. It’s beautiful.” I shielded the sun from my face with a hand and glanced around. We stood, leaning against a wall that separated the rich fields from the dairy farm at our rear. “I’ve never been to an actual farm before. Okay, maybe I have and I don’t know.” I grinned. “Although, a fair warning that ‘you’re going to trample lots of shit, Ash’ would’ve been appreciated,” I smirked, glancing down at my boots covered in crap.
Chuckling, Trent grabbed me around the waist and hoisted me up onto the wall to face him. “I’m sorry, I should’ve warned you.” He unzipped my boots. “It’s called cow dung and surprisingly, it’s used as agricultural fertilizer.”
I gawked. “Wait. You use that.” I point to the shit, “On that?” I jerked my thumb at the crop fields behind my back.” He nodded, laughing. “Holy cow.” I laughed at my choice of word. “Honestly, I knew about the fertilizer, but I didn’t do in-depth study of what went into it.”
“Consider it another learning experience for that ever-growing bank of memories.” He pulled off my boots.
“Another?”
“I taught you how to fuck.” He winked before turning away.
My cheeks grew warm before I realized I was stuck on a wall without shoes. “What are you doing? I’m not walking around barefoot in this place.”
“Hang on, sweetheart.” He called over his shoulder and walked up to a metal structure. I couldn’t see what he was doing until he returned. “All pretty again.” He slipped on my boots, now clean, and zipped them.
“Thank you.”
Keeping me on the wall, he inched between my spread legs and circled my waist. “And thank you, for coming to my home today and out here. It means a lot.”
“And to think I almost didn’t.”
“I’m glad you changed your mind. You’ll stay tonight?” I nodded. “And I’ll keep Jenson around just in case I become a handful.” He winked and I laughed.
