I snorted out a laugh. “Are you fucking serious right now?” I shook my head. “How stupid are you to think I’d contemplate taking you back. I’d rather jump off a cliff than share my bed with you or anything else for that matter,” I sneered. Fuck, the audacity of the woman left me baffled. “The only thing I regret is agreeing to my father demanding I marry you. And it’s not a separation. It’s called divorce if you’re thick to understand. You and I have only one relationship. As parents of our children. Nothing more.”
She glowered at me. The look so intense, I expected balls of fire to come flying out of her mouth. “She won’t stick around, you know.”
My brows pinched together in a deep frown. “Who?”
“Does Rayden know you’ve been fucking her?”
Realization dawned. Her taunting awakened a torrent of rage and betrayal that kicked up my pulse. I reacted without thinking. “Leave her the fuck alone, Angela, or I swear—” I stopped. It was too late. Her arched brow and the cynical twist of her mouth told me I’d given myself away. Bared my soul to the fucking devil and she was going to milk it for every last drop of my blood.
“You shouldn’t wear your heart on your sleeve, Drake. It’s pathetic.” Her laugh resembled a hyena that had just discovered fresh meat. “What does she have that I don’t, well, apart from a younger body?”
“Would you shut the fuck up? There’s nothing between Sia and I.”
“Sia?” she sniffed with impudence.
Fuck.I fisted my palms. My throat burned to lash out, but all I gave her was an arched eyebrow.
Her eyes widened for just a moment before an ugly sneer peeked through layers of thick make-up. “I’m not stupid, Drake. You’re overprotective toward her. Hell, I don’t even think you were that protective over Kyra or me, for that matter.”
I gnashed my teeth, holding my body rigid. I’d never laid a hand on a woman before, but fuck I was tempted to. “I wouldn’t go there, Angela. You and I both know you should be the last person to complain about my lack of affection.” Slipping my hands into my pants pockets, I turned my back on her and moved to stand at the window, preferring the view of the silver moon against the snow.
“How dare you. You neglected me and now you blame me for our marriage not working out.”
“I neglected you?” I fired back, glancing over my shoulder. “Well, excuse me for juggling my time between being a fucking CEO and playing mommy to our two children while you fucked around with God knows who.” The reminder of the life I’d lost to this woman sparked a burn in my chest.
“It was just Josh,” she screamed.
My head jerked up. I stared at the glass, thinking I hadn’t heard correctly. I pivoted sharply. “What?” She slapped a hand to her mouth, guilt widening her eyes. Hands clenched, my vision clouded as I connected the dots. Anger induced adrenaline pumped rage through my veins, shaking my body and shortening my breaths. I neared her. Her fear was palpable. “Youwere the other woman?” I gritted out, my tone filled with menace.
She took a step back. Josh had fought with my father over divorcing his wife for another woman, then left everything behind, including his legacy to the Princeton CEO title.
“All this time, I thought you’d fucked some random asshole too drunk to remember your name.” I gripped her arms, my nails biting into her skin, not caring if I left marks, and shoved her against a wall. Her scream was a vague blur to my ears as fury pounded my heart, rushing out in a torrent of curses. “You ruined my entire fucking family.” I wanted to hit something. “Still, I allowed you the upper hand for so long.” My fingers dug into my palms. I leveled her with a glacial scowl. “You’re an unfuckingbelievable bitch. My fucking brother is Kyra’s father?” I let out a bitter laugh.
“Are you shitting me?”
Dropping my hands, I swung around.Fuck, no.
