I wiggled myself around, shuffling closer to him before I laid my head in his lap. I never thought in a million years I’d want to be anywhere near him, much less in his lap, and yet his presence comforted me. Silent tears fell to his jeans beneath my cheek. His hand slid through the knotted tendrils of my hair, laced with the hairspray it took to hold my updo in place all night.
“I thought you guys were dead,” I said through my gag.
“We gotta get that thing out of her mouth,” Mav murmured.
“Yeah, once we free ourselves,” Dee said.
“Free? What’s wrong? Are you guys bound up, too?”
The doors of the van ripped open. “Zip ties are good for that kind of thing.”
Axe growled almost immediately. “Get her covered up. Now.”
“I’m gonna need your pretty little girlfriend for a second,” that bitch said.
“Oh, hell no,” I murmured.
“Get her,” she said with a wicked smile on her face.
“Get your hands off her. Don’t you touch her!” Mav bellowed.
I tried to wiggle away from the hands grasping for my body.
“Don’t fight them, Brielle,” Dee said. “Just let us handle this.”
I whipped my head up. “So, you want me to just go with them?!”
Sadness filled his gaze. “It’s our only shot.”
So, I stopped fighting. I let whoever the fuck was trying to get to me grab my ankles. I yelped as they slid me toward the edge of the van before yanking me up by my arm, and it was then that the motherfucker with the burns on his face came into view.
“I need something to cover me up,” I said plainly.
He tilted his head. “Or what?”
Someone grabbed my hair and yanked my head back. “Ah!”
My sister’s upside-down face came into view. “Shut that fucking mouth, or I’ll kill one of them just to prove my point. Got a preference for who should die first?”
I wanted to pretend none of it had happened. That I was living a ferocious nightmare and once I woke up, I’d be home. In my bed. With my alarm waking me up to get ready for school. Unfamiliar sights and sounds swirled around me as a bitter cold breeze kicked up, ratcheting up my pain levels. I couldn’t help the way my nose wrinkled. The way my body trembled and gave way to the pain I had battled for days.
“Please, just let me go,” I choked out through my sobs.
I’d never been so embarrassed in all my life.
“Well, well, well,” she said as she walked around to my front, “here we are. Older sister, and younger sister.”
My eyes widened as I drank her in. That pin straight black hair. The bangs that covered her big ass forehead. Those icy blue eyes that held absolutely no emotion behind them. I traced my gaze down her broad shoulders. I clocked her lopsided tits, floored that even her chest had developed exactly like mine.
Jesus, it was like looking into a damn mirror.
“Not too much to look at, I’ll give her that,” she said as she slid her gaze down my form.
Axe scoffed. “One look in the mirror should tell you that.”
As if someone had pressed a button, she whipped around. Her hand flung through the air, and I lunged for her before the back of her hand ever approached Axe’s face.
“Don’t you fucking dare!” I yelped.
