But instead, I was met with a face that meant business.
“Uh oh. What’s wrong?” I asked.
He shoved his phone back into his pocket. “That was Stone. We’ve got serious club business to attend to, so I’ll have to get you to the warehouse and drop you off.”
“Drop me off? Where are you going?”
He held out his hand. “That’s where the flow of information stops. I can talk to you about it after the fact, but for your safety I can’t talk to you about it while it’s in the works.”
I took his hand. “Can you at least give me an overview?”
He shook his head as he guided me to the front door. “No, I can’t. I would if I could, but you’re just going to have to be okay with being filled in after everything is done. Now, come on, we’ve spent enough time here. We have to get to safety.”
“Do you think you’ll be back in time for dinner?”
He unlocked his door and ripped it open. “Possibly. Why?”
I walked outside with him. “I don’t know. I just thought that you and me and Natasha and Chloe could have, like, a family dinner or something tonight.”
He locked his front door and turned around with a cheerful light in his eyes despite the scowl on his face. “I’ll make it back as quickly as I possibly can, then.”
And as we headed toward his bike, I felt a new age dawning in my life. Hell, in all of our lives. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d be able to give Natty the kind of whole and complete family she wanted out of her life. Chloe knew as well as I did that, I’d never had any passion to date after what happened with Dean. I was perfectly content living my life, raising my daughter, and hanging out with Chloe rather than going out there and dating the fuckton of guys that simply wanted to smash and run.
But, as I wrapped my arms around Dean’s waist with his bike helmet sitting on my head, only one thought crossed my mind.
We’re really going to be a family.
And I couldn't wait to tell Natty the good news that night over dinner.

Frost
Feeling Lexi cling to my body while we soared toward the warehouse was a sensation I didn’t want to give up. But, with the task ahead, I was quick to pull her right up to the front door. She pulled my helmet off her head before flipping my visor up, then somehow managed to plant a kiss directly onto the tip of my nose before heading inside.
“You come back to me, okay?” she asked.
I nodded. “I promise, I will.”
Hayley appeared at the door with a smile and a cold drink in an iced glass for her and ushered Lexi inside. I silently thanked her as she waved me away, as if to tell me that she could take it from there. So, I tucked my spare helmet into the back compartment of my bike before I putzed over to where the guys were already hanging out over by the tree line.
Then, I flipped the switch in my head that turned me from doting lover to frosty killer.
“All right,” Stone said, “now that we’re all here except for West--.”
I furrowed my brow. “Wait, West isn’t back yet?”
Stone shook his head. “He sent me a text and told me that Chloe, whoever the hell that is, had to go back to her place to pick up some chargers. He said he’d shoot a message once they were back on the road.”
“And how long ago was that?”
Archer placed his hand on my shoulder. “This is West we’re talking about, Frost. You know those girls are okay.”
But I knew that wouldn’t settle Lexi’s gut, and she quickly spoke up for herself. “Yeah well, I don’t know him. So, how long has it been since you’ve heard from him? My daughter’s out there somewhere, and--.”
I linked my fingers with hers. “Our daughter, actually.”
Stone’s eyes widened and Texas’ jaw practically dropped to the god damn floor. All eyes were on us as Lexi tucked herself against my side and peeked up at me. I looked down at her, tossing her a reassuring wink that hopefully settled her gut. And after she squeezed my hand, she turned back toward the throng of men she had bravely walked into.
