“Shit, I’m sorry Brax. I didn’t sleep long in that room because I knew either the men would come for me, or I would have a nightmare and scare the other girls. So, I only slept for an hour or two. What time is it?”

He looks at his watch. “It’s ten in the morning, I was letting you sleep because you needed it.” He kisses my cheek. “Plus you looked so cute with your head on my pillow.” He smiles at me.

“Fuck, I’ve never slept that long. You must have worn me out,” I say, thinking about last night.

“Are you okay? Really okay?” he asks.

“I think so. I need to process everything, but I’m very okay with what happened between us. I needed that so much and you were amazing. Who knew my biker could be sweet when he needs to?”

He smiles at me and looms over me. I know he’s not going to hurt me. “Sweet? You thought I was sweet when I fucked you?”

I nod. “Yes, you were very sweet, not like a biker at all.” I know I’m pushing his buttons, but I want him to know that I’m really okay.

“Well, your sweet biker didn’t really bring you coffee in bed, then.”

I sit up and look over his shoulder to the bedside cabinet and see two cups of coffee there.

“You didn’t, did you? When did you do that?” I climb over him and feel the cups. They’re still hot. “Did you just get back in bed?” I look at him confused.

He smiles. “I think I might have triggered your nightmare when I climbed back in bed. I’m sorry.”

“You brought me coffee in bed? You really are sweet.” I smile and ignore the part about my nightmare I don’t want to think about it.

“Don’t you dare tell my brothers that or they will rib me about it.”

I’m now sat straddled on him like I was last night, but there’s the sheet between us. I reach over and grab my cup and he sits up and leans against the bed head. I hand him his cup too.

Taking my first sip, I moan. I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I had it when I got here.

“Don’t moan like that Piper, I might need to remind you how sweet I can be.”

I laugh. He’s funny. I like that. “Stop, you’ll make me laugh and I’ll spill my coffee on you.

I look down at myself and realize that I am sitting on him completely naked. My eyes open wide.

He looks at me and says, “Don’t you dare put anything on. I want to sit here, drinking my coffee looking at my woman. What a great way to start the day.” He leans in and kisses me chastely on the lips.

“Oh god, no,” I look down at myself and all I can see are scars and bruises. His finger goes under my chin.

“Baby, look at me. Each and every one of those scars made you into the beautiful, feisty woman that you are today. Don’t look at them as anything other than battle scars. They shaped you.”

“God, can you get any cornier,” I say, laughing.

“I mean it though.” He smiles as he drinks his coffee.

We sit like that for a while and then he reaches over and pulls the sheet so that it’s draped over me, too.

“What’s the plan for today?” I ask, putting my coffee on the table.

“We are going to roll out and see if we can find Mallory and the girls. That douchebag gave us some intel that we can use. Mason and Ghost are going to decipher what they can and then we will head out.”

“You got something from him then?” I’m intrigued and hope that it means they are closer to Mallory and the girls.

“Yeah, I wasn’t there but they said they have something.” He puts his coffee cup down and puts both of his hands on my face. “Babe, we’ll find them. All of them. I promise.”

I lean down and kiss him. “Thank you. Thank you for saving me, Brax.”

“You saved yourself, babe. You got here on your own.”
