Daksh stilled immediately. “Vedika?” His frantic gaze met hers.

“Don’t stop,” she said before he could freeze on her, tightening her legs around his waist, her heels digging into his firm buttocks, coaxing him to move.

Every muscle quivering in his body from his desperate need to control himself, Daksh moved slowly and gently until he was completely buried inside her. The initial red hot burn had settled now and Vedika wiggled her hips prompting a strangled curse from Daksh.

“Daksh,” she said, kissing his shoulder. “Please!”

And then he began to move, slowly at first but faster, his breath coming in short, hard pants. Vedika could feel sensation build inside her, a tight unfurling that seemed to intensify with every thrust. And when for the second time that night, she came apart in his arms, he followed her over the edge, a deep groan torn from him.

Daksh collapsed on top of her in a boneless heap, his face still buried in her hair. And still, he was careful to not smother herwith his weight. Vedika was tired of being treated as fragile though and wrapped herself around him like a jellyfish with its victim, pulling him close and breathing him in. The salty, musty smell of him was an aphrodisiac all its own, she thought happily, as she dropped another kiss to his shoulder.

After a moment, Daksh pulled back slightly, resting his forehead on hers, eyes still shut. “Doing okay, sweetheart?”

“I’ve never been better,” she told him, beaming.

He laughed slightly as he reluctantly moved off her. “I’ll be right back,” he murmured, disappearing into the bathroom. She heard the water running and then a few moments later, he was back with a damp washcloth.

“Oh.” Embarrassment flooded through her, belatedly, and she struggled to sit up. “I can do that.”

“Allow me,” he said, his voice rough with an emotion she couldn’t place, “Please?”

So, she did. She lay back and allowed him to care for her, a deep warmth unfurling inside her as she watched him. She was falling in love with this man.

It was too fast, too deep, too immense…but it was what it was.

Daksh Mathur was her forever.

“What can I get you from room service?” His deep voice cut through her mental spiral. “Mashed potatoes?”

Vedika smiled, “That’s not all that I eat, you know.”

He tossed a pillow at her, smacking her in the face. “Alright, smartass. You place the order. I’ll get some clothes for us to wear.”

Vedika sat up in bed and pulled the room service menu over to her. She was flipping pages when Daksh said, “Mouse?”

She glanced up to see him silhouetted in the dark of the room by the dim light coming from the bathroom. He was magnificent, every last naked inch of him.

“Get me the lobster,” he said, his lips quirking up in a small smile.

Vedika laughed, the sound loud and deep, freeing something within her. “That fucking lobster,” she said.

“My fucking lobster,” he told her, his gaze on hers, as he quoted that iconic line from a famous sitcom.

The door shut behind him a second later and Vedika fell back on the big, soft pillows. “My fucking lobster,” she whispered, hugging herself in glee.

CHAPTER 38

DAKSH

She fell asleep, draped across his chest like she trusted him. And God help him, he wanted to become the kind of man who deserved it. His arms held her close even as his mind churned assessing the situation a million different ways.

It didn’t matter how messy this got. Vedika was his and he was keeping her. Neither her father nor his had a say in the matter. The only person who could stop him from the path he’d set for himself was Vedika.

His phone emitted a soft ping and he turned his head in the shadows of the room to look at the lit screen. It was an email from his agent. He reached out with one hand, careful not to dislodge Vedika or to wake her.

You’re needed in Alaska after the South Africa gig. Email with dates and compensation has been sent. Confirm availability by tomorrow?

Daksh exhaled hard, the breath leaving him in a whoosh. This was his life and he loved it. He rarely stayed in one place for long and the constant travel, the adrenalin rush of dangerous projects, and the need to keep as much distance between himselfand his family as possible, was one that he’d never been able to shake off.
