Abi stood and made his way over to Nash.
Nash wrapped an arm around him. “Yes.”
“You think that means he’s onto us.” Abi had worked that out too.
“Maybe.” Nash nodded to the small table across the room. There was a white sheet of paper. It had creases in two places as if someone had folded it. “Mallor had someone slip that under our door.”
The lines of worry didn’t leave Nash’s face when Abi crossed the room.
It was an invitation to the sex club Mallor frequented. “Do you think his slaves are in this place?”
“Your guys scouted that place. It’s very public. In the club district. And he wants us there on a busy night, which means if the slaves are there, they won’t be easy to rescue. It’ll likely have one way in and one way out.”
“So we’ll be sitting ducks if we go to him and Mallor suspects us.” Abi filled in the dots.
Abi went to Nash again and hugged him. They looked down at the parking lot. Nash pointed to a car at the back of the lot. A person sat behind the wheel. “That’s our guy there.
He put down the paper and headed to the bathroom. “I need to shower, but afterwards I’ll find out if our little spy knows anything.”
Nash sighed. “Don’t get hurt, baby.”
Abi stood in the bathroom doorway and winked at Nash.I won’t if you won’t.
“Deal.” Nash ran his gaze over Abi’s naked form. “You’re sexy, all dirty with my cum dripping out of you.”
Abi turned and slapped his ass cheek so Nash could watch it jiggle.
Nash chuckled and closed the distance between them. He wrapped his arms around Abi from behind.
“When this is over, I’m going to talk you into moving in with me.”
“Are you giving me a heads-up?”
“Yep.”
He hadn’t considered what would happen once they finished the job. A part of him still thought the bonding would fade and Nash would end things. That Nash was in his head, feeling his feelings, factored in. That was the reality. Not Nash leaving. He knew that in his head, but the fear crept in, taking up room.
“Hey, none of that, baby. I’m here where I will always be.” Nash kissed his mating mark. “And my mark is still on you. But it’s real even if it had healed and disappeared.”
Hope was turning into belief. “Let’s get through this new development first, and then we’ll talk about the finer details.”
Nash kissed him and let him go into the shower. Abi left the door open a crack, letting the belief filter through the room along with the steam.
Chapter Twenty
Nash held his breath when he saw Abi. The smartass shifted into a squirrel.
Nash watched from the side of the hotel, staying in the shadows out of sight. Abi ran up a tree at the back of the lot, near to their little spy. Abi’s abilities gave him the element of surprise. They were handy in a way Nash could never pull off.
The only problem was that Nash worried. He’d always worry. It didn’t matter how good he was at this part of his job.
I’ll have him contained in less than five minutes. Do you want to question him before I kill him?
Keep him alive.
Nash watched as Abi disappeared. He must have made himself tiny. So small, Nash couldn’t see from a distance away.
Before he knew it, Abi had materialized in the passenger seat of the car.
