Sage chuckled. He focused on his book after that for a good hour, trying to read and catch the moments when Garridan bent over thetable. Sage had to adjust his cock to a more comfortable position on more than one occasion.
“I can smell your arousal,” Garridan said.
Sage smiled. “Yeah, well, you have a nice ass.”
Ramsey chose that moment to enter the garage, which, of course, made heat rise into his face. “Glad things are working out so well for you two.” Ramsey smiled.
“Thanks, Alpha.”
“Do you mind if I borrow Garridan for a second?”
Sage instantly stiffened. “Do you need me to leave?” Sage rubbed at his chest, right where his heart was, when it started aching at the thought of being without Garridan.
Ramsey looked at him for several seconds before answering. “He’s going to have to be out of your sight every once in a while.”
“I know.” He was well aware of that fact.
“You can stay. This time.”
Sage nodded and sat back in the chair again. It wasn’t healthy to be so clingy. He was just dragging Garridan into his web of crazy like a goddamn black widow spider wrapping up her prey, and that wasn’t fair to Garridan at all.
“Give me a second. My mate is distressed,” Garridan said to Ramsey.
Garridan walked over and crouched in front of him, taking the book and placing it in his lap. He lifted Sage’s chin, so their gazes met. “No one heals from what you’ve been through in just a few months. It’ll take time. Will you give yourself a break?”
“I just feel like I’m not good enough for you. Like I’m letting you down by being a crazy, neurotic weirdo.” Sage leaned forward, wrapping his arms around Garridan.
“You are what I need. We need each other. This is not one-sided. Remember that.”
Sage kissed him before letting go. “Thanks.”
Garridan smiled and winked at him as he stood. He bent slightly and lifted Sage’s hand to his lips, kissing his palm before returning to his task.
Sage sucked in a breath and rubbed his chest again. That time it was for a completely different reason. Sage loved Garridan, but before that moment, he wasn’tin love. Something clicked into place like turning on a light switch. Sage fell hard for his mate and there was no going back, not that he could anyway. And he was never more grateful for that fact. He didn’t want to be anywhere else.
Bennett walked into the garage with Lucas hot on his heels. “How come Sage gets to be in the meeting and I don’t. That’s so fucking unfair, Bennett,” Lucas said.
“Fine.” Bennett rolled his eyes.
Lucas stopped right in front of Sage’s chair. He guessed the view of Lucas’ ass was what he got for sitting next to the door. “Oh shit, really? That immature temper tantrum actually worked?”
Bennett smirked. “Just let me have my meeting.” Bennett kissed him and then put a finger over Lucas’ lips. He was probably talking to Lucas in his mind.
As of yet Sage had only tried that with Garridan the one time after sex. He had heard Garridan a time or two, though. Will you tell them to move so I don’t have to stare at them making out? Bennett will listen to you better than he will me.
“Move, Bennett. My mate is uncomfortable,” Garridan said.
Bennett looked down at him. “Sorry, Sage. We didn’t realize we were so close.” He let go of Lucas and walked over to where Ramsey and Garridanstood.
“Move over.” Lucas nudged his leg.
Sage rolled his eyes and straightened, so Lucas could sit on the edge. If it had been anyone else, Sage would have moved to another spot in the garage. No way would he have been able to be so close to another person who wasn’t Garridan. For some reason, he was comfortable with Lucas. Maybe it was some witch thing he did.
So that was two people Sage could be next to without freaking out. And he could be around Jules too, so that made three. He had to admit that he was as comfortable around Jules as he was Lucas. And he was starting to get comfortable around Ladon.
What an improvement. Sage rolled his eyes at himself
Lucas sat down at about the same time Sage looked over at Garridan.Remember what I said.
