Bennett stood. Panic rose in his chest at the thought of Lucas leaving.
“We need enforcers for the clan. I got a feeling Delvin will give us trouble when he learns about Lucas,” Ramsey said. Yeah, Bennett had that same feeling. Delvin was a very smart shifter. He would figure out really quickly that Lucas was special and try to capitalize on that fact somehow.
“If that fucker touches him, he’ll die, Ramsey.”
“Sit down, Bennett,” Mom said.
Bennett growled, immediately regretting it. “Sorry, Mom. I’m on edge. Just the thought of Lucas leaving makes me crazy.”
“By the gods, Bennett. No one said he was going anywhere,” Mom said.
“Sit down, Bennett,” Ramsey said calmly. Despite the quiet, even tone, Bennett knew it was an order from his Alpha. Needless to say, he sat down. “Talk to him. He might listen to you.”
Bennett nodded. “In the meantime, if he’s away from me then he’s with the family. At least two of you at all times.”
“Yes, I think that’s wise. We’ll also start round the clock patrols. One around the perimeter of Saint Lakes and one through the town.” Ramsey drew his eyebrows together and he did that thing he always did when he was stressed. He grabbed an ink pen from the cup on the office’s desk and began clicking it incessantly. “Should have started one as soon as he arrived. Hindsight and all that.”
“Also, Delvin is harassing Ladon. I saw it when Lucas linked us. We need to do something about him once and for all.” Bennett wouldn’tlet Ramsey dismiss Delvin’s behavior any longer. Delvin received too many chances already.
Ramsey sighed. “Call him out at the meeting.”
Chapter Seventeen
Lucas followed Ladon through the house to the back patio.
Ladon immediately went over to a lounger that Vaughan was lying on. “Move over, Butthead.” Ladon kicked the lounger, just nudging it with his foot.
“Rub my shoulders and I might think about it,” Vaughan said, not moving an inch.
“Get bent, man.”
“Fine, sit on the ground then,” Vaughan said.
“I hate being the youngest,” Ladon said and sat on the wooden slats of the deck. “We need another sister or brother.”
“Make it a sister, please,” Kristin said.
Vaughan grinned and moved his legs over. “Come here. Gods, you’re so sensitive.”
Kristin patted the lounger she was sitting on. “You can sit here, Lucas.”
Lucas smiled and walked over. For a second, he thought he’d have to plop his ass on the wooden deck too, not that he had an aversion to itor anything. It was just that his ass sort of ached a little from Bennett’s cock being in it. He wasn’t complaining about that either. He rather liked the feeling. It was a reminder of his afternoon with the dragon, who was starting to become his whole entire world.
Bennett was always so gentle and thoughtful, even when they had made love. For that reason, he decided to give in. He was probably giving in too early but whatever. He didn’t want to be mad at Bennett.
“Where’s Bennett?” Kristin asked.
“In a meeting,” Ladon answered.
“With Ramsey and Mom?”
“Yes.”
“Hmm, wonder what they’re discussing. Something must be going on.” Kristin gave Lucas the side eye.
“They're talking about me.” Lucas folded his hands in his lap.
“Why?”
