Our three children are staying with Aspen and Wilder for the weekend—free lifetime babysitting is the price they’re paying for making Marigold, and I do all the work for their wedding.
“Am I a mountain man, a biker, or a hockey player in this one? I want to make sure I get the character right.” I raise an eyebrow at Marigold, knowing how turned on she gets when I read to her.
“You’re actually a hockey-playing mountain man.” She settles on the couch next to me.
I glance at the front cover of the manuscript, and the title, Icing the Pucking Mountain Man, stares back at me. “Two for the price of one.” I tease, bringing a soft blush to her cheeks.
“If you’re not careful, next time I’ll make you a hockey-playing orc, mountain man, cowboy.” She swings a leg over my thighs and straddles my lap. “Now read.” She grinds her hips down into my lap, causing us both to moan.
“I know you’re just joking about writing a hockey-playing orc mountain man cowboy, but I’m pretty sure your readers would eat it up.”
“Who said I’m joking?” Knowing my wife, I’m sure she has exactly that planned for her next romance series.
I flip to the first page, realizing that whenever she reads my manuscript out loud to me, she doesn’t take her shirt off.

“I love you, too, Warren.” She stops squirming in my lap long enough to give me a deep kiss.
“Alright, you’d better settle in and get comfortable. By the way you’re grinding on me, this book must have a ton of sex scenes.”
