“Whatever.” I shift my eyes to the side.
He laughs. “You’re cute when you’re jealous.”
“I’m not jealous. I just don’t like that she got away with it.”
He walks up to me and pulls me into a hug. “I don’t see it as her getting away with it, because, in the end, everything worked out for the best. If she and I were married, you and I never would have had a chance, and what a shame that would have been.”
“Still… It feels like there are no consequences for her, and I’m not comfortable with that.”
“Well, there’s still time. Maybe John will leave her at the altar like she left me.”
I pull back and look into his face, and we both burst into laughter.
“That would be amazing,” I say. “I would pay actual money to see that happen.”
“Me too.”
We both burst into peals of laughter again and then walk over to the couch and collapse onto it once more.
“Do you want to stay the night?”
“I mean, that was the plan. I have a suit in my car for tomorrow.”
“That was presumptuous of you.” I raise an eyebrow.
“Was it?”
He leans over and plants a kiss on my lips as his hands make their way under my shirt.
Although Brady has seen us kiss a couple of times, what’s about to unfold is not appropriate for his eyes. So I take Adam by the hand and lead him into my room.
Once there, we explore each other’s bodies and pull all sorts of desires out of each other.
I hate to admit it, but Adam was right. I am a little jealous that he spent time with his ex-fiancée today. So part of me puts in a little extra effort to show him what he’d be missing if he ever went back to her.
I know it’s an irrational thought, but my reptile brain can’t help it. I can’t help but feel threatened by this Rachel person. Everything was fine when they weren’t speaking. However, now that they’ve made up, who is to say she isn’t going to want him back?
I know she’s getting married, but that didn’t stop her the last time.
I’m being crazy. Even if she did want Adam back, he doesn’t want her. He wants me. I know that. He’s shown me over and over again.
So I let myself relax and enjoy my man.
When it’s all said and done he’s managed to soothe me so that I pass out immediately.
“I love you,” is the last thing I hear before I drift off, and slumber claims me with a smile on my face.

We’ve gotten to that point in the election cycle where things are starting to feel real. Both major parties have come up with their candidates. Republicans have chosen Eustis Pine while the Democrats have lined up behind Alton Jackson.
I look across my table at Kayla as she takes notes.
“I’ll talk to Isaac to have him bump whatever is on the schedule for after the News Hour tonight. I’m thinking we do a special broadcast. It should be an hour long. Basically, we will look at both candidates in depth. Show the American people who the candidates really are.”
“How do you want this done? Live with anchors discussing the candidates? Or prepackaged? Because if you want it to be prepackaged, then tonight is too short notice.”
