“Moonstone,” he breathed, baring his neck to me.
Moonstone.
I smiled against his skin, too damn pleased by this.
“I accept,” I said, and then, I bit him.
“We’re getting married,” I announced to Peter, my grin wide. The pride I felt saying those words…
His eyes widened before his grin matched mine. “Congratulations, brother!” He stood from his armchair, crushing me into a brotherly hug. I welcomed it, holding him tight against me.
Felix and I had parted ways after showering. He had to talk to Astrea and Claire today and I had to share the good news with Peter. While the others had eaten their breakfast, I had asked him for a private chat, not that I did not want the others to know, but I felt Peter deserved to hear it first. Felix would tell Astrea when he felt ready to, and with Peter knowing, it likely would not be long before he told her.
“When is the wedding?” he asked, sitting back down, his eyes still gleaming with happiness.
“We have yet to decide on that. But I want a spring wedding, with wildflowers around us.” It had been the first thing I had thought about when I saw the moonstone. Felix standing in a beautiful suit with the flowery fields behind him.
“That can easily be arranged. That would give us plenty of time, too. Do you want a big wedding?” Peter had somehow found a journal and a pen, already writing down the details.
“Um, I have no idea. I know for me, I just want you and the others living here there, but maybe Felix would like a big celebration.”
“Okay, I will add ‘to be determined’ to that. Now, what about the music? We could hire a band? Maybe do a DJ if it ends up being a bigger party?”
My thoughts were all over the place, desperately trying to figure out where to land. “I can not think about any of this without Felix, I am afraid.”
He laughed. “I love how panicked you looked. Relax, brother. There is plenty of time. I guess I just got a bit excited.”
I smiled at him, grabbing my new necklace to show him. “I am excited, too. He gave me this last night.”
He blinked in obvious surprise. “He was the one to ask you? I thought it was the other way around.”
I shook my head, all too pleased to correct him. “Felix was the one asking me.”
“Aww, now that is romance.”
I batted his arm playfully. “I enjoyed it. I also had not expected it already. I really thought he would need more time.”
Witches tended to marry over bonding, since they had to be fated to either a werewolf, human, or a vampire. I just assumed marrying would mean more to Felix than us bonding, even if bonding was a permanent thing, which a marriage was not.
Peter gave me a soft smile. “Brother, just because he fought you a little at first, does not mean he will continue to do so. His reasoning for holding off in the beginning was likely also from fear. He felt the bond but a part of him was afraid it would have been the potion and not you two being fated. I actually think what he did was the right thing, even if it hurt you both in the beginning. Had it been the potion you would both have been left devastated.”
Feeling a bit emotional about it all, I let myself just bask in the moment. It had been a whirlwind ever since Felix stepped inside the castle, but, oh, how my life was feeling complete for the first time. I had found my fated. My brother was back to living under the sameroof as me. And then Giro, Cole, Astrea, and Claire being here, too. Dina, too, of course, but she was here even before.
Peter slapped his thighs and stood. “Now that the wedding talk is put to the side for now, maybe we should look over the house sale along with the store?”
Chapter 41
Felix
Why was I nervous? This was my sister and my best friend. I sighed. It did nothing good to worry outside their bedroom door. They hadn’t been to breakfast, as I had hoped, so I had to track them down instead, which really wasn’t a hardship considering they rarely left their room.
Steelingmyself, I knocked.
Claire opened the door with a confused expression. “Did something happen?” she asked, already on the defensive.
“No,” I hurried to say, noting how her shoulders visibly relaxed. “I just wanted to talk to you both.”
“Oh,” she said, stepping back to let me inside.
