Chapter 13

Felix

So, this fated thing wasn’t a joke. I was so hard I could cry. On another note, I wasn’t shy about letting Severin know just how badly I wanted him. Which was the biggest surprise, to be honest.

I had fully embraced the thought of being his, and now that I had, I wasn’t holdingback any more.

Also, the fact that other vampires wouldn’t be able to feed from me once we’d bonded was a particularly pleasant thought. I didn’t like being fed from. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it did hurt when they broke through the skin. Only it hadn’t hurt when Severin fed from me. Maybe it hurt less from the neck?

Severin came out of the bathroom only wearing a towel, making me groan loudly at the sight. “Seriously?” The bastard only smirked, acting all coy as he searched lazily for something to wear. It was one hundred percent payback; he fucking knew what he was doing.

Time to play.

“Does it hurt less to be bitten in the neck?” I asked, feigning innocence.

He seemed surprised, but also a tad bit suspicious, his eyes searching mine before he replied. “No, it should hurt the same amount. Why?”

“It didn’t hurt when you bit me. I was just wondering if it was the placement, and if so, why they had it in the contract that it needs to be on the wrist?”

“You are my fated. I cannot hurt you. Biting will be pleasurable for you once we bond. For both of us really,” he answered, while I tried to stifle my growing erection at the thought of him biting me again. “But the reason for wrist biting in the contract is to ensure the feeder and vampire do not bond. Feeding from the neck is more intimate and could cause a bond to form quicker.”

My plan to tease him with biting and blood talk was forgotten, as my curiosity peaked instead. “Oh, so it is to protect the vampires from bonding sooner?”

He stopped his search for clothes and just blinked at me. “The contract is for the feeder’s sake, so they do not bond the vampire, not the other way around.”

I eyed him. “I thought it was because vampires didn’t want to be forced into a bond?”

He gave me a kind smile and shook his head. “Vampires would just kill them if they did not want the bond, hence why the contract is for the feeder’s sake.”

Fuck… I hadn’t even thought about that. “So, there aren’t any laws against it? Vampires killing their bonded, I mean.”

Severin shook his head. “Sadly no, only if they breach the contract. If they were lovers and the human, or witch, were with them of their own free will when it happened, then the vampire could kill them without being punished, since that is the only way to break the bond.”

I knew vampires were given much leeway, but this was just ridiculous. I was actually glad there weren’t many vampires around, if they could all kill so easily. I was also glad I didn’t know about this until now. Had I known before becoming a feeder, I might have found another way to earn money. I should write the company a very detailed letter, informing them about how their lack of education to us feeders could hurt us in the end. They seemed so mighty and proud about ensuring our safety, when they kept something so vital from us. Likely because they feared fewer would want to be feeders if they knew.

“There’s so much I wasn’t told,” I said after a beat of silence. “But it does make sense.”

“I am sorry you were not told. Just know that I will always speak the truth. You only need to ask.”

He was just so perfect, so in control and poised. And here I was already sporting another boner just from seeing him dripping wet in a towel. Would he be as affected as me if I were to take a bath?

Before I could commit to my next act of teasing, someone knocked on the door.

I eyed Severin, daring him to open it wearing only his towel. I might not be a vampire, but I could growl, too, if needed.

“Just a minute!” he called, and I knew then that it couldn’t have been Peter, since he’d yelled.

“Are you having fun in there?!” Dina’s voice reached us through the door. “Because now is totally not the time!”

Severin had dressed himself with his ridiculous vampire speed and was opening the door before she could yell anything else. “Greetings, Dina,” he said, calm and polite as always.

“Seriously? You couldn’t have picked a better time to get it on? I get that your emotions are all over the place, but seriously? We have guests!” she snapped, stomping her foot like we were children that needed spanking.

“We, um, we were not doing that,” Severin assured her.

She just rolled her eyes. “There is a thing called foreplay you know? You need to take your time and not just vampire speed through.”

I held up my hand, stalling her next words. “Please, Dina. Stop talking. We were just talking and then Severin took a bath. Please, just tell us what you came here for.”
