“Who is she talking to?” Aira asked with wide eyes. “Oh wait, no, I see it. So cute, a little magical unicorn.”

I glanced around looking for said unicorn. If there was one here I wanted to ride it. Harry frowned and also looked for the unicorn. Bah, where was the little nugget of joyous mythicalism?

“I can’t see it,” Hudson grumbled.

“I’m not surprised,” Sebastian answered. “You are hardly the epitome of imagination and acceptance. If there is a unicorn, it would hide from your growly tiger.”

“You know nothing about my growly tiger, just keep your pointy teeth away from my mate.”

Sebastian grinned. Oh boy, where was that shiny unicorn? We needed a distraction.

Sebastian wiggled his index finger at Hudson. “Come closer, let me tell you a secret.”

Hudson’s gaze narrowed and he leaned across the table, clearly curious about Sebastian’s secret.

“If you are to be concerned about my teeth sinking into anybody, you should be thinking of yourself.”

Hudson jerked back. Everyone else froze, including Rebecca and Maggie in their impromptu dance party.

Sebastian waved his arms in the air. “That’s right, folks, I’m a gay royal vampire. Your princesses are safe, but clutch those pearls if you are a man.”

Hudson’s gaze swung to me. “Is he being serious?”

I nodded. A chuckle bubbled out of his lips, then he threw his head back and let a huge rumbling belly laugh free.

“I bet your father just loved hearing that,” Dave said as he wiped tears from his eyes.

All gazes swung to Aira. She shrugged. “My husband is an asshole.”

I blinked. It was the truth, but royals never badmouthed each other in front of outsiders. It simply wasn’t done. Apparently, magic mushrooms made our tongues loose.

A knock rattled against the front door. My wards hadn’t warned me of any newcomers.

Hudson jumped up. Apparently, proclaiming himself as my mate also made him the man of the house. Oh good, we were all saved.

He swung the door open and snorted. “The Devil is here, now it’s a party.”

Uncle Lucifer swaggered into my house looking like a curious kitten.

“Just clarifying that we can all see the Devil? It’s not another unicorn situation where only the blessed and crazy can see it, right?” Dave muttered, angling his chair in front of Aunt Liz. These alpha males needed to learn that Roberts women could protect themselves.

“I see him,” Sebastian said, all laughter now gone from his tone and his features as he leveled Lucifer with a deadly stare. The effect of the mushrooms was being burned away by the seriousness of the situation.

“You shouldn’t be able to get in here,” I stated.

He shoved his hands in his pants pockets and smirked. “You think I wouldn’t leave a little back door entrance to your home when I had the opportunity?”

Huh. Well no, I hadn’t considered that. “What do you want?”

He scanned the people giving him death glares and smiled. I guess he was used to the evil eye.

“What I want is to speak to Cora Roberts, daughter of death, seer of spirits, doctor of supernaturals.”

I held up my hand which made him pause. “Okay, okay I get it. I’m not Daenerys Targaryen, I don’t need a list of titles declaring me to be the mother of dragons and breaker of chains.”

“Lucifer?” Aira said with wide eyes as she scanned my uncle like he was a yummy treat.

I’m not even entertaining the idea of them together. “What are you talking about, mother?” Sebastian asked. “Can you still see the unicorn?”
