“This was a wasted trip, baby,” I whine as I hook my arm through Marsha’s. “There isn’t a big powerful demon that can satisfy both of us.”

“But you promised,” she pouts.

“Oh fucking hell,”Zac groans.

“Who goes there?” one of the guards asks. He comes into view as he steps towards our side of the wall, a five-foot spear poking towards us. I struggle to keep a smile plastered on my face as his rhino features take shape. It’s like they let the aquarium and the zoo loose here.

I jump and raise my hand to my cleavage, trailing my fingers across the exposed flesh. “Oh my, aren’t you a big demon.”

Marsha giggles and tucks herself into my side whilst twisting a piece of her red hair in her fingers. Rhino guy licks his grey lips as the second guard leans forward to get a better look at us. He’s more like your typical devil depicted by humans; red skin, black lips, and matching horns.

“Look, Mary, two big demons. Maybe it wasn’t a wasted night after all,” I drawl.

“They aren’t that stupid,”Lucifer states.

“Fifty bucks says otherwise,”I shoot back.

“I’ll take that bet,”Zee adds.

Rhino guy stands taller, puffs out his armor-clad chest and withdraws his spear. Red blinks at us before zeroing in on where Marsha’s hand has drifted to my hip. A slow grin splits his lips.

“Two pretty demons like yourselves shouldn’t be wandering around here alone,” he says.

I glance left and right, avoiding the gaping mouths of the males lined up against the wall. “You two wouldn’t let anything bad happen to us, would you? You’d protect us?”

“Is it bad I’m hoping they lure them in and try to kill them?”Zac mumbles.

The demons glance at each other. “Herbert and Basil won’t be here for shift change for another few hours,” Rhino guy says.

“Who the fuck names these demons?”I wonder.

“That’s plenty of time,” Red agrees, eyeing my breasts and licking his lips. Boob guy, go figure.

They disappear and the wall next to Lucifer shifts, the bricks reorganizing themselves to reveal the grinning demons.

“I need better demons,”Lucifer grumbles.

“I’ll take the blonde,” Red mutters, eyeing me up and down like a piece of meat.

“Good for me,” Rhino mutters, cupping his crotch.

I crook my finger at him. They take the bait and take the fatal step out of the mansion grounds. Archan snaps the neck of Red, and Lucifer does the same to Rhino. Archan scans over me, like any harm could have befallen me in the last two minutes whilst he looked on.

I roll my eyes and tug the knot out of my tank. Pain flares across my ribs as I brush against them—I must have bruised them. Archan grabs my tank and lifts it. “Hey, that show wasn’t an invitation,” I say, slapping his hands.

He grazes his fingers over my ribs. The red hot pain nearly brings me to my knees. Nathan appears next to Archan with a frown. “Did the demon touch you?” he asks, studying my flesh.

I glance down, spotting the circular red welts. “No, you just saw, they had their heads snapped before they could touch us.”

“Back at the fight, the octopus,” Zac says, glancing over Nathan’s shoulder for a look.

I blink. That’s right. The tentacle caught me as I sliced it off.

“Is it a magical octopus that stops gods from healing?” I ask as Archan passes his hand over the area again. Heat radiates from him as he heals what my body should have already done.

“No, it would heal within a minute,” Nathan answers, his brow furrowed as we digest what that means.

Archan sucks in a breath.
