“Good boy,” I crooned. “Is it still in its packaging?”

He nodded. “Yeah.”

As I began to walk away, he seemed to panic, tugging uselessly against the cuffs. “N-no!” he yelled. “You—you promised! You promised! Please—”

I turned to look at him as I reached the door. “You’ll get to come, angel. Just sit tight for a few minutes, then I’ll give you an extra special reward, okay?”

“But…”

“With the corset on,” I added, opening the door.

His mouth dropped open.

I didn’t wait for a response.

I stepped out into the hallway and closed the door behind me, the soft click cutting off whatever protest he’d been about to make.

For a moment, I just stood there.

A corset.

Josh had been spiraling for days—days—over a damn piece of clothing.

A slow smile pulled at my mouth.

“Silly, silly man, ” I murmured to myself, heading downstairs.

In a minute, I was in the extra room on the first floor that was probably meant to be an office or something, but had turned into a home for all the random shit we didn’t have a place for.

I flipped on the light and walked straight to the closet.

Sure enough, behind a stack of old winter clothes, there was a small box.

I pulled it out, turning it over in my hands before opening it.

Inside, folded carefully in tissue paper, was the corset.

I wasn’t sure why he’d been so weird about this.

It was heavier than I expected, and high-quality. The majority of it was this dark purple design that reminded me of aristocracy.

I turned it over, eyeing the lacing in the back. There was no way Josh had thought through the logistics of actually putting this thing on.

Which meant I was now responsible for figuring it out.

I grabbed my phone and, after a brief moment of consideration, searched for a tutorial.

A few seconds later, I had a video pulled up explaining how to put on a corset vest.

I leaned against the wall, half-watching, half-listening.

“Loosen the laces first…”

“Right,” I muttered, glancing down at the tightly threaded back.

That made sense.

I spent a minute working the laces loose, fingers tugging and adjusting until the structure relaxed enough to actually get into.
