She plopped down on the couch next to him. Apparently, it wasn’t close enough. He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her snuggly into his side.
“She’s good. All tucked in and begging to move in here.”
“She got the right idea.” Moolah stroked her hair.
Iskyiah shook her head against his broad shoulder. “This is crazy, Lah.”
“What’s crazy is you actin’ like we don’t go together.”
She snickered. “You’re impossible.”
“Nah. You just make shit complicated.”
Iskyiah turned her head so that she looked up at him. She fought the urge to reach up and tug on his beard to make sure he was really listening, but she didn’t.
“Things aren’t so black and white for me, Lah. We aren’t in high school anymore. I mean, there’s so much we don’t know about each other now. How can you rush into this knowing I’m different from the little girl you used to know?”
“You ain’t that different.”
She scoffed. “You’re always so confident.”
“When it comes to you, yeah.”
“It’s so simple for you.”
“Why can’t it be for you? Matter of fact, don’t answer that. Tell me this. How can I make this simple for you?”
Iskyiah blinked as her eyes focused on the large projector screen in front of her. It was turned off, but she imagined watching her favorite shows on the monstrosity of a screen as she thought about Moolah’s question.
Finally, she whispered, “Just don’t leave again.”
Moolah’s embrace tightened, and he used his other hand to tilt her head up so that she looked at him. “I ain’t goin’ nowhere, so stop tryna run from me thinkin’ that’ll stop you from getting hurt in the event that I leave again. I. Ain’t. Goin’. Nowhere. You hear me?” Iskyiah swallowed the lump in her throat and lookedup at him with sad eyes. He knew how her mind worked at times where she couldn’t even understand why she moved the way she moved. Finally, she nodded. “Nah. That ain’t gon’ work. Tell me you understand.”
“I understand.” Her voice was raw, but she meant what she said. She did understand, and she decided, at that moment, she would surrender to this force called Moolah.
“Good, my baby. Very good,” he murmured. He dipped his head and kissed her. When he pulled back, it looked like he had a world of love dancing behind his eyes. “I love you, Iskyiah Nathans.”
That lump in her throat seemed to grow ten times. She wasn’t sad at all. She was overflowed with joy at that moment. This man was who she’d needed all these years. A twinge of sadness hit her when she thought about how her willingness to hold a grudge caused her to miss out on so many years with Moolah.
Letting go of the past completely, she gazed up at him with adoration and said, “I love you, too, Moolah Brooks.”
His smile was so rare, but when she saw it, the entire world seemed to light up. They kissed again. Iskyiah leaned into him, giving him her all. Moolah had no issues taking it either. He slid his hands down her body and pulled her on top of him. His large hands gripped her ass, and she pulled up on his shirt.
“We can’t do this shit here. Let’s go to the room,” Moolah muttered as he slid her breast out from under her shirt.
“Why?” Iskyiah asked, completely lost in the moment.
“Lil mama . . .”
Iskyiah moaned as his tongue swiped across her nipple. Her back arched, and she tried to pull up his shirt once again. “She won’t be able to find her way back down here. Don’t worry.”
He chuckled. “Baby, we?—”
He stopped when she reached between them and stroked his hard dick in her hand.
“Please, Lah. I need you.”
He could never say no to her. She knew that, and she definitely took advantage. Moolah groaned and fully took her shirt off before tearing his off. A few seconds later, the rest of their clothes were off, and Iskyiah sank down onto him. They moaned as she filled him inch by inch.
