“Your bear is a hoot.”

“You feel him?”

“He wants to play.”The corners of her mouth turned upward into a wide grin.“He’s happy.”

“We’re not going anywhere,” Niall said, shifting his hips subtly.Something tugged deep inside her, subsiding when he stilled.“We’re still attached.”

“I wonder if that’s normal.”Suzie reached up to kiss him, seemingly not too worried, and another of those spasms rolled through her, full of pleasure. She sighed and cuddled closer, contentment like a cuddly blanket draped around her.Her lips grazed the mark she’d placed on Niall, and he shuddered, his quick jerk leading to a rapid series of clenches in her lower body.

“Will it be like this every time?”Suzie wondered.“Making love with you has always been fun, but this is on another level.I’m tired, but my body is ultra-aware and sensitive. In a good way.”

Niall grinned.“It might be a long night.”

“At least we’ll have time to talk,” Suzie said.

“That sounds serious.”He paused, hesitating.

“What?”

“Are you truly all right about living in Scotland?I promised the laird I’d make Scotland my home and become a land guardian, but you lack the same connection.”

Suzie cupped his face and caught his gaze before she replied.“My sole aspiration was to attend university and reside in Wellington with Edwina. We wanted to branch out and enjoy our independence. We had so much against us.First, neither of our families are wealthy, and we had to earn money to cover what our scholarships didn’t.Edwina’s grandmother hated the idea of us leaving and was very vocal. My grandmother is her best friend, so they tried to dissuade us.”She wrinkled her nose.“I’m unsure where their imaginations went, but it wasn’t a good place. In my roundabout way, I’m trying to say my life is with you.Now that I’ve heard from Edwina, I know she’s close when I’m in Scotland.”

“You can visit her easily.”

“Yes.I’m not saying I won’t miss Middlemarch and my family, but I want to be with you. You’re my mate and the person I dream of spending my life with. You, Niall.”She pressed her fingertips to his lips, and he kissed them, sending a shudder of longing through her.“Are we still attached?”

Niall shifted a fraction, and she felt a faint tug of her flesh deep inside, not unpleasant but different. He immediately resettled so his weight didn’t crush her.“We could always experiment a little with our marks,” he suggested.

“Is yours sore?”

“No.It’s more sensitive and tender than painful.”

“Same,” Suzie said and grinned.“I’m game.As long as you can control your bear.”

Niall huffed, and his bear echoed the sound.Suzie laughed, so happy she wanted to shout to the rooftops. It gave her a better insight into her parents and their closeness because she suspected that was what it’d be like for her and Niall.

“I know I’ve said this a lot today, but I truly love you.I’m so happy that my curiosity put me in the right place at the right time.”

“Fate,” he said in a soft voice, then his mouth was on her mark, and the passion ramped up between them.

Suzie relaxed in her mate’s arms, kissing him in return. She belonged here and couldn’t wait to see how their lives unfolded. She anticipated they’d make mistakes along the way, but she saw loving and togetherness and a family and friends. It was how one should live life, and she was eager to start the journey with her fantastic mate.

“I love you, Niall.”And Suzie settled in to make sure he fully understood this fact.
