Still plastered against Ransom, she shifted her position again until she found a comfortable spot and closed her eyes. The last time she’d shared a bed with a sexy man, the experience was more aerobic, although ultimately relaxing.

She hoped Eva had calmed Saber and assured him Scarlett was fine with the status quo.If Ransom kept his word, she’d soon have more rare stones to coax and shape into gorgeous jewelry. Her own place—the fulfillment of a long-held dream.A life goal. What would these stones look like? What properties would they hold?As she added these questions to her list, another yawn burst free.

An adventure.

Yeah, after her hard work at the resort, she couldn’t pretend she hated this escapade.

3.Seduction or Betrayal?

Lately, whenhewoke,he had to force himself from the bed and douse himself in hot water to get warm.Something about the prince and the energy he stole made Ransom’s temperature drop as if ice ran through his veins.

This whitelight, shivers didn’t rack his body. The torment in his head wasn’t as wicked as usual, and the nausea that accompanied the attacks hadn’t beset him.Not yet.

Ransom became aware of warmth searing his chest.Confused, he blinked and batted at the black hair obscuring his vision. He savored the honey-sweet fragrance filling his lungs.

Joy burst through him as his brain made an analysis.Scarlett.Heat radiated off her, warming him and driving away his usual chill.

While the prince had connected with his mind, he hadn’t lingered as was his habit. He’d left.Ransom frowned, trying to recall what resembled dreams.Prince Kalim had arrived almost as soon as he’d fallen asleep. He’d demanded answers, then once he’d assured himself Ransom had Scarlett, he’d commenced the painful drawing of energy. The process typically left him achy, drained, and lethargic.

His head still ached, but the pain was bearable.

Somewhere outside, a bell clanged, and Ransom sensed the moment Scarlett awoke. Her green eyes were alert as she turned to face him.

“Are you okay?”

Ransom blinked before he could control his reaction.“That was the breakfast bell. We’d better move.”

“Hmm, avoiding the question.Interesting.”

She rolled off the gel-bed and picked up her tunic top, giving Ransom a glimpse of firm and slender muscles and full, high breasts. This time, he swallowed when she chuckled.

“Better pull those eyes back in your head.”

Ransom started, this green-eyed woman shoving him even further off his game.

“And get dressed unless you want those sisters and the guests to swallow their tongues.”

Frankly, he was more interested in Scarlett’s opinion, but since she’d already turned away, he reached for his trews.Absently, he donned his tunic while he watched Scarlett run her fingers through her hair. The black locks were longer than he’d imagined, and his fingers itched to run through the silky length.Along with her honey fragrance, her hair gave off hints of flowers.

“Are you ready?”

Scarlett was dressed with her hair in the donut-bun thing. She appeared well-rested and prepared to attack any challenge tossed in her direction.

“I’ll catch up,” Ransom said, a part of him miffed because women frequently noticed him. They gawked.Flirted.They slipped him notes, offered their bodies.Other women wanted him, and the one green-eyed female who intrigued him, he couldn’t touch.Instead, he intended to betray her to secure his family and friends.

She left without another word, the door clicking behind her.

If things were different, he’d pursue Scarlett Mitchell. He’d allow his dragon to take control, and they’d find an eyrie where they could seduce her to their way of thinking.

He heaved a harsh sigh. No, better to embrace his grouchy side, which wasn’t difficult given the stress and pain that had become his norm. The prince had assured him the journey would take five cycles at most.

Then, all he had to do was awaken the prince and live with the guilt of having betrayed Scarlett Mitchell.

4.A Blunder Through Time

Scarlettfocusedonthedragon-man’s strong hands as he piloted his ship from Dalcon.Oh, she’d tried to pay attention to their surroundings—the other men in the spaceport, the view of Dalcon as they left the atmosphere and blasted into deep space, the planet’s golden moons. But instead, her gaze crept to Ransom.

He puzzled her.
