“It sure does, and you taste delicious.”
She pulled him back to her breast as her other hand roamed over his shoulder and back.
He skimmed his mouth from her breast, kissing a path over her neck, then to her jawline, not stopping until he reached her warm, delectable mouth. The tempo of their kiss slowed, and a long, lingering kiss ensued. Warm, sweet, exhilarating.
Emma broke the kiss and placed her hands on his cheeks. “Do you have a condom?”
“Yes.”
He pushed himself up on the bed, reached over, and pulled a foil packet from his cleanup bag.
Emma’s lovely gaze was erotic as hell as she watched him sheath himself.
He covered her with his body. Her skin was warm and soft. She was inviting. With gazes locked, he slid into the depths of her warmth. Slow strokes and even slower kisses ensued. He paused and returned his gaze to her. The depth of her stare thrilled, yet frightened him. What had he gotten into? He never saw this coming, and it happened so quickly.
He moved again, stroking, kissing, loving her. Her breath came quicker and his matched hers. He moved faster and plunged deeper. Thrill ripped through him. He teetered on the verge of climax. He reached down between their bodies and circled her clit. Emma’s fingertips dug into his shoulders. She shattered beneath him. Her body quivered, and her inner depths pulsed around him. The sensation of it was exhilarating—phenomenal. His vision blurred, and he exploded in her arms.
Cap collapsed beside her and took a second to catch his breath, and then, after a few beats, he rolled toward her and kissed her lightly.
“I’ll be right back,” he said before he slid out of bed and headed to the bathroom.
When he returned to the bedroom, he found Emma had pulled the covers up, covering her beautiful body. Dammit. He enjoyed seeing her nakedness.
She lifted the blanket, and he slid in beside her, then pulled her to him. She fit perfectly at his side.

Emma shifted under Cap’s firm hold. He didn’t stir. His breathing remained slow and even. Though the masculine scent of Cap’s enticed her to kiss him awake and have her way with him again, her flesh was tired and her languid body begged to sink further into the mattress. But, her overactive mind prevented her from sleeping. When would this be over? Would the Colombians ever leave her be? Would Jonathan get through this? She fixed her gaze on Cap’s face. And what would become of her and Cap once this was over? Her feelings for him were strong. Was it just the danger that pushed them together? Or, was there something more? She once thought she loved Jonathan, and look how that turned out. She sighed at her lack of good judgment when it came to him.
She closed her eyes and replayed her time with Jonathan in her brain. She’d been so stupid to stay with him. Having gone so far down the path to marriage, she felt stuck. Like she had to go through with it even though she’d been having second thoughts. Then, when he dumped her, she was mad. Why? It wasn’t like she hadn’t thought of doing the same to him. It was embarrassing, that’s why. He’d humiliated her. That was the truth of it. This realization felt like a relief to her.
Emma slipped out of Cap’s hold and slid off the bed, careful not to wake him. She snagged her pajamas and slippers off the floor and limped off to the bathroom. Her ankle felt better, but it was still sore.
She looked at her weary self in the mirror. The dark patches under her eyes confirmed the rough couple of days she’d had. Yet, tonight, as well as last night, had been pretty spectacular. Her body wanted nothing better than to climb back in bed with Cap.
She exited the bathroom and headed toward the living room instead. She slipped her finger under the curtain and moved it slightly to peek outside. It was pitch black. She did the same at the small kitchen window above the sink. Even in the darkness, she made out the squad car. This had to be the most boring detail for the deputies.
All was quiet. Living in the city, she wasn’t used to this kind of quiet.
The floor creaked behind her. Cap’s cedar scent pleasantly filled her nostrils, then his muscular arms encircled her waist, pulling her to him. Her back pressed firmly against his warm, firm torso.
“Can’t sleep?”
His breath washed over the side of her face.
“No. My mind is reeling too much.”
“I know a way to distract you,” he said.
His husky voice was sexy and enticing.
She giggled and spun in his embrace to face him, hoping to see his naked torso, but he’d slipped on a T-shirt and shorts. Easily removable.
He dipped his head and kissed her. A long, sweet kiss. Just what she needed. Light, sweet, distracting.
Cap eased back but kept his arms around her.
“There, did that work?”
