“You’re both like old fuckin’ women, he wasn’t dead,” he tells us.
“I saw it with my own eyes,” Cas grinds out.
“You saw him drop to the ground and not move,” JJ argues.
Regardless if Cas’s boy is dead or not, mine is looking worse as each second passes.
I glance over to Myles and his arm bleeds, but the little shit doesn’t look like he gives a shit.
He catches me staring and tells me, “It’s not my first scratch. It’s fine.”
“You’regood then?”
“Not really. Wouldn't quite say I'm scared, more like terrified.”
“You? Terrified?” I can’t believe what I'm hearing. “Don’t tell me one of Pope’s grandsons is afraid.”
Mason snorts keeping his eyes closed.
Myles goes on to say, “Not of these assholes. Emma's gonna be pissed, though if they chop my balls off, it’ll save me the job of a trip to the hospital.”
“Huh?”
“She’s put a sex ban on me till I get a vasectomy.”
No matter the situation we find ourselves in, there’s still some things that will always be funny.
“I can’t blame her, you’ve got a whole fuckin’ tribe living in that house.”
“It’s not just me, Aspen gave Mason the same ultimatum.”
“Should have known you’d get your balls chopped off together.” I snort.
“Ah, ah,” Myles tuts. “I’ve been well informed that there will be no chopping, thank you.”
“I assure you, kid, that anyone other than your old lady touching your balls adds up to chopping.”
Mentioning an old lady, Bonnie comes to mind, and my chest constricts. I have no idea what’s going to happen and how the fuck we’re going to make it home, but I do know I won’t leave her a widow and without her only son. That is the kind of heartbreak you don’t come back from.
“After this, my old lady can have anything she damn well pleases, especially if it gets me back between her legs.”
I snort. “Let’s concentrate on gettin’ home first, then what you get up to is no business of mine.”
The van comes to a stop, and we all look to one another, even Mason opens his eyes.
Hopper swings open the door and sighs. “Shame, I had hoped at least one of you would have bled out by now.”
One of his prospects jumps in the back of the van and offers water. We all refuse and he shrugs. “Don’t bother me.”
It takes me back to the dark, damp basement Oak and I were kept in. I escaped with my life back then, I hope I’m lucky enough a second time.

The prospect brings over the online orders that have been delivered and takes the boxes up to Roman’s bedroom. They're both asleep in Roman’s cot and the prospect quietly offers, “If you need me to help with anything, just holler.”
“Holly!”
