I stop in the doorway on my way out and silently vow to hurry this the fuck up, life needs to get back to normal.

Downstairs, Holly is filling the sink bowl with clean soapy water and gazing out of the window. I lean across and turn the faucet off when it runs over.

“Sorry, I zoned out.”

“It’s all good. Don’t worry about it.”

“Harper has been rambling a lot over the last couple of days, not making sense.”

I’m not surprised to hear that. “I was going to ask a favor. I know you’ve got enough going on, but can you keep an eye on her and call me straight away if she gets worse.”

“Sure. As busy as it is, I need her around.”

“Thanks. I should head over to the bar. I’ll have my phone on me.”

“See you later.”

The twins sit alone at Pope’s table, and I take a seat at the bar. The prospect hands me a beer and without Cas’s smoke fog filling the place out, I light my own and inhale deeply.

I'm soon joined by Mason and I close my eyes. “Sitting on our asses is bullshit,” he grunts.

“Don’t start again, I can’t deal with you repeating shit I’ve heard before.”

“You’re our VP, figure it out and tell us what to do.”

He walks off and I sigh. I'm fucking sick of sighing. My dad used to tell me it was a sign of thinking too much. I know Leo, I trust him to keep himself alive as long as he possibly can. He knows how to handle himself. In return, he knows me. He’ll trust that I’ll be doing what I can to bring him home.

“Do you want some company?” a soft voice asks, and I look around to see who she’s talking to.

Turns out, it’s me. I go back to drinking my beer and ignore her.

She moves closer and the smell of her perfume is sickly sweet. “You look like you need to forget about the world.” She runs her hand over my crotch, and I grab her wrist.

“Touch me again, and I’ll hack your hand off,” I warn her.

Fear flashes in her eyes but then she smiles and leans even closer. “I bet you could show me a thing or two if we were to go somewhere more private, or I could definitely show you a thing or two.” Her lips brush against my ear as she whispers, “I can do this thing with my tongue, it’d make you come so hard you’ll pass out.”

Without hesitation, I tell her, “So can my wife, now fuck off.”

With one last smirk, she tells me, “I’ll be around if you change your mind.”

“Not fuckin’ likely,” I grunt and leave myself.

I need to be out of here. It's driving me crazy. My phone rings and the one person other than Cas I don’t want to deal with right now is calling.

“Luca,” I answer.

“My dad wants me riding to Willow’s Peak with my chapter. What are you saying?”

I snort. “Your dad is making it fuckin’ clear he’s takin’ the lead on this.”

“You’re the fuckin’ VP.”

“You ain’t got to remind me.”

Though that seems to be what everyone is doing.

“You’re not agreeing with him?”
