I drew my fist back and swung. I didn’t know this girl from a can of paint, but the fact that she had purposely thrown her drink on me pissed me off. I had a million things going on, and she was about to be the casualty.
My arm started swinging, and she and I began rocking through the Blue Café. The bitch barely had hair to grab on to, so I used my foot to kick her backward. The fight reminded me of the one Bianca and I had in New York. My spirit was telling me this had something to do with Dio. She snatched at my shirt, trying to pull me toward the floor.
“Nah, bitch!” I gritted.
I took a good grip of her shirt and allowed my hands to lead as I drew back and hit her.
Wham! Wham! Wham!
When my body flew in the air, I was still kicking and screaming. “Samara, calm your pit bull ass down!”
While I was being pulled away by Streets, the other bitch was being pulled away by that guy who had the baby. He carried me until we were outside.
“Put me the fuck down!” I shouted.
He let me go before standing there looking simple. “Is Dio messing with her?” I asked.
“Nah.”
“I’m only asking this shit one more time. I find it funny that this bitch randomly throws a drink on me. I don’t know who she is or where she came from. I don’t fuck with nobody, and this happens, so again, Xavier, is Dio fucking with her?” I shouted.
“I said no!” he barked at me. “She does like the nigga, yes, but I gave her the warning. Dio is not worried about anybody but you. Yes, that’s my nigga, but I would tell you if he was fucking with someone else.”
Suddenly, the café doors opened as Alyse and Paige were being carried out. “Stupid bitch!” Alyse screamed.
Xavier looked confused. Paige paced the parking lot. “I’ve got to get out of here. I can’t be doing this shit. Her friends waited until you got pulled out and started talking shit, so Alyse and I did what needed to be done.”
A laugh left me when I saw Paige’s braids all over her head. She looked at me, upset, then started laughing. “The shit is not funny. This is some Morgan-type shit.”
Alyse fixed her hair as she turned to me. “It’s spring break, and I want to see my man. Are we done or what?”
Streets shook his head. “Y’all are for sure some Zoo Babies.”
They all stopped and looked at me. Right then, it hit me. It was I, the one who should have been in their positions long ago, who was still standing here waiting. I had put all of that in the back of my mind, and that small comment made everything resurface again. Chevy and Zaria didn’t have to wait until tomorrow because I'd be with my family today.
PERCY
“Calm yo ass down!” I shouted at Anika as I pinned her in the corner.
Watching her and Dio’s little shorty get down was crazy. Then moments later, their friends started fighting. I had just gotten my job at the Blue Café, and they were tearing shit up. Hell, I was pissed that I had to be the one to clean this shit up.
Anika’s nose flared in anger. I tried patting her wild, short hair down, but it kept standing up.
“You really need to chill, looking like a fucking Cynthia doll and shit.”
“Fuck you, Percy!” she hissed.
I shrugged. “Shit, I’m trying to help you out,” I said as I released her.
She plopped on the seat next to her as I started picking up the tables. “What did she do to you?” I asked.
Now I wanted to know because the way she was acting made it seem like Shorty stole her man. “Is this over that nigga Dio?”
When she looked at me, I knew it was. I heckled. “Does the nigga know you out here fighting over him? Hell, does the nigga even know who you are?”
She rolled her eyes. “Percy, shut up! A nigga who sneaks in the Mercier building to fuck Phoebe shouldn’t be telling me shit!” she hissed.
I stood and turned to her. “Who the fuck told you that?” I snapped.
