“You don’t know anything about me.”
My hands twist uselessly against the ropes. But I still try, hoping that they may just loosen enough that I can pull my arms free.
“I know you’re fucking crazy. I know that my brother will look for me, and you’ll be dead when he finds you.”
He tilts his head, studying me.
“Funny you said your brother and not the men you’ve been fucking.” He laughs, and his son joins in with him. “You knowthe saddest part?” He leans in closer, his face looming over mine. “You were so stupid you didn’t even realize I was following you.”
My stomach drops. As much as I hate it, he’s right. Not that I would’ve known someone was following me. There was no reason for them to be. But to think that Josh was leaving the note and rose on my car, when he would’ve just given it to me.
“You never once noticed,” he says, almost amused. “Not when you left the bar. Not when you walked to your car. You made it so easy. So oblivious to your surroundings. Fucking stupid girl.”
My chest tightens painfully.
Abraham gestures toward the tray on the nightstand.
“Jack here is going to feed you. We’d undo your hands, but I don’t think I can trust you yet.”
“I don’t want your damn food,” I bark at him.
“You should eat.”
“Go to hell,” I tell him through clenched teeth as I glare at him.
“You’re going to need your strength for what’s coming.”
Then he leans in closer to me, his breath smelling of whiskey. His hand slides up my body, moving under the edge of my shirt, pushing it upward. He exposes my bra covered breasts, taking his time squeezing each of them.
All I feel is revulsion. “Don’t touch me!”
He goes to cover my lips with his, and I do the only thing I can at this point. I spit in his face.
Abraham sits upright, wiping the spit from his face. Then, before I can blink, his fist is slamming into my face. Pain explodes across my jaw, through my nose and behind my eyes.
“You’ll learn to obey,” he growls.
Blood fills my mouth as my head falls back against the pillow.
“Fuck you,” I manage to get out through the pain.
“Oh, don’t worry, you will be fucking me. I’m going to let you sit there and let it sink in. When we come back maybe you’ll be more inclined to behave.”
Jack and Abraham turn and leave. The food still sitting on the tray on the nightstand.
I scream, knowing that right now I’m fucked. But I’m going to fight every second of this. I know Luca will come for me. I just have to stay strong.
Chapter 30
Josh
I’mleaningagainstthewall, arms crossed over my chest as I try to keep my calm. Some fucking asshole has kidnapped my girl and could be doing God only knows what to her.
Anger boils in me, and it’s taking everything in me to stay in this room and wait for everyone to arrive. For Luca to tell us who the fuck this man is that took Veronica from us. Then once she’s safe, I’m going to make him pay for touching her in blood and pain. And when he’s at the brink of death, I’ll make sure to nurse him back to health so I can do it all over again.
Luke moves over beside me, his shoulder brushing against mine, as he whispers, “We’re wasting time. We need to go find her.”
I nod in agreement, and as much as I’d rather fly out of this room and track her down, we need to be smart. We need all the information and a solid plan. There’s no way I want Veronica to get hurt because we acted recklessly. But every second that passes feels like another needle being stuck into my skin.
