“Hey,” I call, but she doesn’t look my way. “Hey, you in the pink top.” I stand up, stopping her as she goes to pass me.

“Can I help you?” Her eyes go wide in shock.

“Sorry, I couldn’t remember your name. You’re in my girlfriend, Dylan Murphy’s, anatomy class, right?”

“It’s Gloria, and yes. Why?”

“Was she in class?” I ask her.

“Yeah, but she got called to the office.”

Nodding my thanks, I step out of her way and she leaves.

“Fuck, why would she be there?” Ford asks.

“Don’t know. I’m going to message her to find out.”

Just as I’m about to message her, both our phones vibrate.

We look at the same time and I see it’s Dylan in our group message.

Dylan: I’m grounded indefinitely. Can’t see you guys. :(

What the fuck. Grounded? Why?

“Do you think her mom found out?” I ask Ford.

Ford: That sucks. What happened?

Me: That’s bullshit. Why?

Dylan: My mom found out I was playing lacrosse.

Dylan: She went on and on about how barbaric and unladylike I am when she took me home.

Ford: She’s a fool. I think it’s amazing you play.

Me: Same baby. And barbaric? I’ve seen your mother shopping. That’s barbaric.

Dylan: That’s not the worst part. The principal claims the opposing team wants to revoke our championship win because of me. The team’s going to hate me.

Dylan: I don’t want either of you to hate me if that happens.

Ford: You are one of the main reasons we won, Kitty.Me: We’ll talk to Coach and see what we can find out. No rules were broken, so they don’t have anything to justify their claim. The win is ours, fair and square.

Dylan: OK I got to go.

Ford: We’re here for you. We love you.

Me: Always and forever. Love you Pickle. Call us later if you can.

Dylan: Thanks guys. I love you! And I’ll try.

Once school is over, we’ll go see Coach.

As soon as the last bell rings, we rush to Coach’s office. We need to know what the fuck is happening and if they even have a chance of overturning our win.

His door is closed when we get to his office, but Ford’s impatient ass pounds on it like a madman.
