My cheeks flushed as embarrassment washed over me, and I looked down at the floor. I didn’t say anything, instead letting the silence speak for itself.

“I’ll close my eyes,” he said.

I looked up at him, his eyes shut tightly, and fought back a smile.

“Don’t peek,” I warned.

He made an X over his heart, and I shook my head, dropping the towel to the floor.

Quickly, I slipped on my pajamas and crossed my arms over my chest, trying to hide my breasts. I’d only packed one bra, but the one lying on the bathroom floor was caked with dirt and grime. I huffed, regretting my decision not to pack more. I leaned down, picked up the towel from the floor, and draped it over my arm.

“Done,” I whispered.

Slowly, he opened his eyes, the green of them making my breath still. I looked away and ran my fingers through my knotted hair, telling myself that the pulse between my thighs was just some weird reaction to my predicament. It didn't mean anything.

He stood from the bed, and I clenched my thighs together, that burning heat seeming to grow as he gazed down at me. He took one step forward and pressed his body against mine before leaning down and kissing me gently on the forehead.

“Get some sleep,” he said while handing me an ice pack that had been in his back pocket. “I’ll be back in the morning.”

I nodded to him as he stepped back, words seeming to escape me at this point in time.

“Good night, Lila. Sleep well,” he said before walking toward the door and unlocking it.

He looked back at me, the muscles in his back tightening as he seemed to be holding himself back, then left, the door closing loudly behind him.

Sunlightpouredinthroughthe bedroom windows, heating the floor where I paced back and forth. It had been two hours since I left Lila, and I ached to be near her again. She was so fuckingintoxicating.

My cock hardened at the memory of her in the bathtub, her naked body on display for me to see. The way her face had flushed with shame made my heart ache, and anger boil beneath my skin. Darkness swarmed my vision as my anger grew, my body shaking for a release. I walked over to my dresser and picked up my phone, pulling up the app for the cameras.

I’d placed cameras in her bedroom; the need to see her, even when I wasn’t with her, had taken over all logical parts of my brain. She lay on the bed, her chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm, indicating she was still fast asleep. I smiled as she rolled over, the firm peaks of her nipples visible through her white T-shirt. She moaned softly, and the hair on the back of my neck stood at attention as I forced myself to stay put.

I watched for a few more minutes before slipping my phone into my pocket and stumbling down the stairs. I grabbed my jacket and boots and put them on before heading out the front door. The locks automatically engaged as soon as it closed behind me, and I gave myself an imaginary pat on the back for installing them.

The chill of the air bit at my cheeks, and I shivered, missing the warmth of Lila’s body. I glanced back one last time before getting into my car and starting it. Music blared to life, and I grimaced at the sound, instantly shutting it off, my mind too overwhelmed for that much noise. I backed out of my driveway and headed toward the city, knowing exactly where I was going.

Isatoutsidetherestaurant, watching the door as people came and went. Daniel had gone inside over an hour ago but still hadn’t come back out yet. I parked a few cars down from his, not wanting to seem too obvious as I patiently waited for him to reappear. Memories of our first meeting flashed in my mind as I watched him flirting shamelessly with the waitress.

Daniel sat across from Lila, his hands balled into fists. He slammed his fists on the table, coffee spilling onto the floor. Lila jumped, but refused to show fear, her features neutral and uncaring.

He’d been visiting her for weeks, even after she dumped him, her fear and concern over him growing. I kept a close eye on him, hoping he’d learn his lesson, but clearly he hadn’t.

Daniel had followed her into the coffee shop and cornered her at the table, begging for another chance. Even now, with his growing anger, she’d still refused. Pride swelled in my chest as she stood from the table, threw down a twenty-dollar bill and left.

He stood from the table, and followed her out the door, but I stepped in his way, ramming my shoulder into him as hard as I could. He fell to the ground with a loud grunt as his head hit the pavement. A low growl escaped his chest as he glanced behind me, watching Lila fumble with her keys.

His lip curled up in a snarl as I offered him my hand. He swatted it away before pushing up from the ground and running after the car. His hand landed on the back right window, but Lila had already started to drive. The tires screeched against the pavement as she sped off, a guttural scream ripping from Daniel’s throat.

I couldn’t help but laugh as he lunged for the car, trying his best to grab onto it. What that would do, I didn’t know, but I guess it made sense in his fucked-up head.

He stalked toward his car, fumbling with his keys, and I hurried to catch up. He stepped into a mud puddle, his foot twisting at an awkward angle, and he let out a pained cry. I chuckled as he shook his foot, water and mud dripping from his pants leg.

Daniel glanced back and saw me, his eyes boring into mine.

“Are you fucking following me?” he snarled.

I shrugged my shoulders as I moved closer, slipping my hands into my pockets.

“Maybe,” I said.
