“ButIwasn’t kissinghim.Hewas kissingme!” Could that really be why Shane had taken off? But surely, if he had seen, he would’ve known that—after everything they’d done together last week—she didn’t want Ryan! And she’d never kiss another man in front of him like that anyway. Who did Shane think she was? Krista shook her head. “Maybe he was just using Ryan as an excuse to end it with me?”

“Maybe,” Lisa said. “Maybe not.”

“Sounds to me like the first thing you need to do is tell Ryan you no longer want him,” Mom said, surprisingly helpful. “Unless of course you want to use him to make Shane jealous.”

Okay, perhaps not that helpful.

“Or,” Lisa said, “you could hunt Shane down and jump his bones. If he refuses, then at least you’ll know how he feels.”

Krista balled her napkin and chucked it at her. “Still with the grabbing the bull by the balls, eh?”

“Either that, or you forget all about him.” Lisa took a large bite of pizza. “The choice is yours, Kris.”

What a choice!

The next day, although Krista was feeling fortified by her impromptu girls’ night, she still didn’t think she could jump Shane’s bones, not when he’d chucked her bags out of his car, but nor could she forget all about him. Not when her heart and soul were still aching for his touch.

The choice is yours...

She’d spent the whole day at work looking furtively around herself in case she ran into Shane. What would she say to him?

And more importantly, what wouldhesay?

Her stomach was in knots, a churning mixture of hurt and anger, longing and desire. So, all day she’d stayed clear of the pool areas and changing rooms, which was why she was currently changing for this dinner date with Ryan in the washrooms behind the main reception area.

Tucked away, she took off her sports gear and pulled on jeans and a simple black top. She didn’t want to give Ryan the impression that she’d dressed up—not that he’d noticed much in Banff, the last time she’d dressed up for him—but still, she took the time to do her makeup nicely. The dark circles around her eyes were crying out to be covered up, and a swipe or two of mascara and lip gloss would help lift her spirits.

When she was done, she flicked the comb through her hair then stepped out into the lobby.

And came face-to-face with the man who’d turned her life upside down.

Chapter 24

Her sweet, kissablelips were glossy. Her cheeks flushed, like they’d been after every time they’d made love. And although he’d been itching to bump into her all day, Shane still hadn’t been prepared for the slam in his chest when he saw her again.
