“Cool.”
He led her into the barn and up the stairs to the apartment. He’d cleaned it earlier, stocking the fridge and putting the special dessert that Zara had made for them inside.
“This is really neat,” she said.“Cozy.”
“It’s nice to have on hand, especially when we need some privacy.”
He motioned for her to sit on the couch and went to the fridge to grab the dessert.Zara had made a brownie with thick ganache frosting, setting it on a plate with fresh raspberries. It looked perfect and delicious.
Grabbing forks and tucking water bottles under his arm, he joined her on the couch.
They toasted the dessert by clinking their forks together, both laughing at the silliness of it all, and then each took a bite. She closed her eyes with a hum.“Oh, this is wonderful.”
“I’m so glad you like it.”
“I like it,” she said, her voice dropping a little.“I like everything about this night.Especially you.”
“I like you too.”
Their gazes locked, and he wasn’t sure he was even breathing.
He wanted so much in that moment. To pull her close and kiss her.To tell her just how much she was coming to mean to him already.
But he just stared at her.Because he wanted her to decide how fast things moved between them.
Then she set her fork on the plate and took his hand. She leaned in and kissed him, soft but certain. He froze for a moment, then groaned low in his chest as his self-control frayed. He kissed her back, savoring the taste of chocolate and fruit on her lips.
When she pulled from the kiss, her cheeks were flushed.“Why do I feel so close to you after two days?”
How the hell was he supposed to answer that without sharing about his shifter nature.
“Do you believe in fate?”he asked, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.
“I wasn’t sure I did until Rhomi and Mercer met the way they did.And now that I’ve met you and it was just so crazy how our lives lined up on Saturday to cross paths?I definitely do.How about you?”
“One thousand percent.”
The air went electric between them, her eyes darkening and the scent of her arousal making his stallion whinny in his head.
“Good,” she said. She rested her hand on his chest, where his heart was pounding in anticipation beneath her palm. She whispered his name and leaned in, and everything fell away except the two of them: the beautiful human and the stallion.
Darcy hadn’t planned to move forward physically, but she had genuinely been helpless to stop herself from kissing him and asking for more.
More of everything.More of him.
Their hands bumped as they reached for each other’s clothes, and then his calloused fingers were pulling the zipper of her dress down. She managed to get his shirt off, sliding the smooth silk off his broad shoulders, her fingertips tracing the muscles that flexed as he lowered her dress off her shoulders and down her arms.
He kissed her like he couldn’t get enough of her, and she felt the same way.
Their tongues danced together, sliding and tasting, as she pulled her arms free from the dress and reached for him again. He slid from the couch to his knees and hooked his thumbs in the dress pooled at her waist.
Time froze for a moment, and then she lifted her hips and settled back against the couch. He worked the dress over her hips, pulling her panties off with it and dropping it to the floor as her shoes hit the ground with soft thuds.
He pushed her legs apart and moved between them, leaning up to kiss her lips and then moving down her neck with little kisses and licks. He cupped her bottom and pulled her closer to the edge of the couch as he made his way down to her breasts, sucking gently on her nipples until they were tight and aching in just the right way.
He moved his hands along the backs of her legs, then slid them up over her knees, delving his way to the apex of her thighs as she shivered in anticipation. She played with his soft, short hair, her fingers sinking into the thick strands as she wiggled her hips to spread her legs farther apart.
She felt totally wanton, and totallywanted. Her heart and mind spinning with all the feelings for the sexy guy between her legs.
