“Guess I need to get moving then,” I tease him, grabbing my makeup.

“Well, why are you putting that on?” Abbott asks.

“Bruises,” Shiloh replies for me. “She’s still a little self conscious of it.”

“That’s true,” I say. “What shoes am I wearing? They need to be closed toed.”

“I have cute loafers for now, and there are boots in the bag,” Shiloh says. “I’m going to make sure Winter, Bellamy, and Ansel are ready.”

“Thank you for fixing my hair,” I say, blending the makeup into my skin.

Ugh, my skin is still a little dry, so I needed to use several skin care products to even it out.

“Anytime,” Shi says, walking out.

“How are you holding up?” Abbott asks.

“Honestly, it’s a swinging pendulum of chaos,” I groan. “Sometimes, I’m okay, and then one thing happens to suck me back into my head. We know nothing good happens there.”

“That hoe is a liar,” he agrees, his lips curling into a smile.

“Exactly!” I exclaim, adding a little blush, bronzer, and lip gloss. “Okay. I’m ready.”

“You’re as gorgeous with wet hair as you are now,” he says, offering his arm for me to take.

He’s a good southern gentleman, and I don’t think he’ll ever change. He’s dressed in a pair of slacks and button up shirt today, but he’s left some of the buttons undone.

Abbott looks good enough to eat. There’s no amount of trauma that’ll make me think any differently.

“Don’t look at me like that,” he grins, grabbing my shoes from the closet.

Ooh, slip ons! Fuck yes. Abbott makes sure my feet are comfortable before straightening.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I say, chuckling.

“Mmhmm. Well, I’ll be keeping track of every heated glance and smirk, Cassidy,” he growls. “I will happily attack you once you’re ready. ‘Ow’ isn’t going to be one of the things you say when I fuck you.”

“No, I suppose it’ll be more like ‘fuck me, Alpha’,” I giggle, grabbing my purse and filling it with essentials.

My gun, knife, pepper spray, and lip gloss.

I won’t be paying for anything today, so I’m not worried about money.

“That’s a very interesting conglomerate of items,” Abbott says, his hand on my back as we walk.

“I don’t think I’ll be able to let my guard down for a long time,” I sigh.

“We’re all armed, and I’m teaching Winter and Bell how to use a gun. I want them armed at all times, even when they go to work. Beau said he understood that Bellamy couldn’t help going into heat and then being kidnapped, and that he looks forward to seeing him soon,” Abbott says. “Beau seems to have a soft spot for Bellamy, thank god. I told Bellamy he needed to be able to shoot straight before he goes back, so he’s going to practice after our bonding murders.”

“We need to file paperwork to declare that they’re our omegas,” I add.

Abbott nods as we begin walking down the stairs.

“When are you going to redo the bond?” he asks me.

“I…”

“Now,” Winter says, at the bottom of the stairs, eavesdropping unapologetically. “I was a good girl and shot a gun, ate lunch, and really want it.”
