“Yes. If Bellamy and Winter want to visit, I’m okay with it. They’re no longer on IVs. I just ask that they take it slow in the hallways,” Dr. Marsden says brightly.

Oh this man has no idea the shitstorm he just released. Why the fuck didn’t they come find Abbott immediately? It doesn’t even sound as if he knew that they stopped the sedation.

Dr. Marsden leaves without a clue to how close he is to death, while Abbott’s knuckles go white from how tightly he’s clenching his hands.

“I want to go,” I tell him, trying to pull him out of the anger he’s feeling. “Please, Abbott. Take Winter and I to see her. She’s alone.”

Our alpha takes a deep breath and closes his eyes before blowing it out.

“Alright,” he says, opening his eyes. “You’ve been in bed for a week. Take it easy.”

Throwing the sheets to the side, Winter and I sit up, ready to get the fuck out of this bed.

“You’re going to make me crazy,” Abbott mutters. He’s torn on who to help out first, before he comes around to take my arm.

As soon as I’m upright, Winter scoots over to my side of the bed to stand, and Abbott relaxes slightly as he wraps his arm around her waist. This way, he’s standing between us.

“My ass isn’t showing in this, right?” Winter asks uncomfortably. “I swear, I feel a draft.”

Abbot checks both of our hospital gowns, frowning when he sees they’re too low in the back. He fixes the ties on both of them, and then we’re ready to begin walking.

We have to go slower than any of us would like because our legs are wobbly, but we eventually make it.

Cassidy is in a large bed, and looks tiny inside of it. Her eyes open as we walk into her room, and she smiles weakly. Her lips are cracked, and her cheek is less swollen where she was constantly slapped and punched. While she looks tired for someone who’s been sleeping for a week, I’m very happy to see her.

“Hmmm. Hi,” she whispers.

“Abbott, can you get her water?” I ask, already getting into the bed with her.

Winter joins me on the other side of Cassidy, and I can feel the tension bleed out of her body. Abbott finds ice and water for Cassidy, and I hold the cup for her.

“I need some things,” Winter says, getting comfortable.

“Good, I need shit to do. Put me to work,” Abbott says, obviously feeling a little stir crazy as well.

Cassidy almost chokes on her water, gasping as she pulls away. She had a tube to help her breathe, and now that it’s all been removed, I expect that her throat is raw.

“Sorry,” Abbott murmurs. “I forget that I’m funny by accident.”

“You’re very funny,” Cassidy rasps with a choked laugh.

“Ready for my list?” Winter asks with wide eyes.

I put the cup on the table next to me, listening to them as I lay back on the pillows.

“Go for it,” he says, pulling out his phone and opening it to a note app.

“I need lip balm, dry shampoo, and a good barrier cream,” she says.

“Got it,” Abbott says, lips twitching in amusement.

I can see from here that Cassidy needs what Winter asked for. Her skin is so dry.

“Breath mints too,” Cass rasps. “Please. I feel like I probably smell too.”

“You don’t,” I promise.

“The nurses made sure you didn’t, and I washed your hair a couple of days ago,” Abbott says, blushing. “Do you need anything else?”
