But, she'd done nothing wrong.

I just never felt anything when it came to women.

Reo had been forced to escort her out of the hotel room.

Another showed up at my gates three nights in a row. The first night, my guards turned her away. The second night, she climbed the wall.

Somehow the third night, she made it inside the compound and all the way to my bedroom door before Reo caught her by the arm and dragged her out.

She screamed my name down the hall, clawing at his hands.

Kicking.

Begging.

Two Fangs had to help him get her into the car. I listened from my bed and didn't feel a thing.

There were others, but they blurred.

All of them.

Only a gallery of skin, sound, and desperate desire that never once touched me where it mattered.

Now. . .

This woman—my Tiger, my Tora—had erased them all from my memory.

Now they were even more faceless.

Nameless.

Ghosts of a life I no longer recognized as my own.

There was only her.

Maybe. . .there had only ever been her. I just hadn't known it until she walked into my world and set it on fire.

Tonight, I would let her do it literally.

I was ready to die for her if I had to.

Ready to burn.

Ready to let the flames consume me if that's what she needed to see. If that's what it took for her to understand the depth of what I felt.

My Roar didn't know about our fire play session this evening. If Reo did, he might have tried to talk me out of it, reminding me of my responsibilities, my empire, and the war we were fighting.

Reo would tell me this was reckless.

Dangerous.

Stupid.

And of course, he would be right.

But I didn't care.

Currently, Reo was drugged and sleeping off broken ribs in his bedroom. According to Kaoru, he’d eaten damned near all of my Tiger’s samples, so his belly was surely full.
