Soya shook her head. “That was fucking crazy.” “Say, girl!”

I glanced to the left, and realized that Face was shouting. “You need to come holler at me about my fucking car!”

Sucking my teeth, I rolled my eyes, before stomping into my apartment.

hat’s up, Soya?” QT asked, as he hugged her, as he always did, while she sat on the sectional.

“I been sitting here, trying to talk some sense into your stubborn ass sister,” Soya claimed.

QT stood upright, while clutching a Styrofoam cup. Cooly, nodding, my brother was a smooth, chocolate muthafucka. He was about six feet even. Had a nice, cut physique. Silky, wavy hair. Pretty white teeth. Was draped in Rick Owens, and two hefty chains gleaming around his neck. The expensive cologne had made it into the room before he did. Which was the norm for him. And one would never think that he was the stone-cold killer that he was.

“That’s exactly why I stopped by, when a nigga is supposed to be headed to the club, right now,” QT mentioned, before his eyes traveled to me. “What’s up, Babi? Why I gotta stop what I’m doing, cause you in some bullshit?”

Ifrowned.“Ididn’tfuckingcallyou.”

He nodded. “I know you didn’t. But you had to know that I was gonna get a call. You done damaged that man’s car, and you walked of without even trying to get some understanding.”

“And? Fuck him and that car.”

“Aww, come on, baby sis. I know that you be walking around with ya nose in the air, cause you know that big bro is gonna handle whoever and whatever for you. These niggas know that too. And if it was anybody else, then I would’ve told that nigga to charge it to the game. And would’ve been ready to pop something if they didn’t respect my mind. But that’s Face, girl. My connect. How I eat. I can’t afford to have no bad blood with that man. Nor am I paying off your debt. Now, me and him done chopped it up. I let him know that you stubborn and shit. He said that he was willing to come to some type of agreement for you to work off that deductible tag, which is about twenty-five hundred.”

I smacked my lips. “Twenty-five hundred? But they say he’s rich, though. That should be play money for him.”

“It is,” QT agreed. “But you don’t get to that position by letting muthafuckas walk all over you. If anything, your stuck-up ass should’ve apologized and smiled at the nigga. He probably would’ve let you make it. But you chose to walk of, and basically say fuck him, while the whole hood was watching.”

Soya shook her head and laughed. “She thought that you was finna get active, QT. But I had just told her that you get your work from that man.”

QT took a sip from his cup. “I know it, kinfolk. You aint gotta tell me. I know how my mean ass sister is. Done whupped on Chell’s head and went viral. They was tagging me in them videos, left and right. And that shit was just a couple of hours ago. You really dented that man’s hood in, Babi.”

Hating to admit when I’m wrong, I folded my arms in front of me. “Tell him that it’s gonna take me a minute to get the money.

I’ll have to pay him in installments,” I grumbled, knowing damn well that I had about fifteen thousand stacked. It really didn’t matter how much money I had. I wasn’t trying to pay that man nothing.

QT chuckled. “You lying like a muthafucka, man. I know you got the money. That’s why I wasn’t volunteering mine. Your tight ass is sitting on a bag. I know you. Anyway…” He stroked his waves. “I told Face that you be cleaning houses and shit. So, he said that you can come to his house and clean up, or whatever else he need you to do, until that debt is squared away.”

I hooded my eyes. “Who fucking told you to volunteer my services?”

He opened his arms. “You fucked up the man’s car, Babi. You gotta do what you gotta do.”

I rolled my eyes for the umpteenth time. “Yeah, whatever.”

Soya laughed. “Bitch, if you aint the most stubborn mutha-fucka. But I aint gone lie. Iwishthat nigga would tell me to come clean his house. I’d do that shit in a heartbeat.”

“And on that note, I’m gone.” QT headed towards the stairs. “Call that man, Babi. I already texted his number to you.”

“Whatever.” I waved him off, as he jogged downstairs.

Soya tilted her head, as she peered at me. “Are you finna call him?”

I focused on the TV. “Maybe tomorrow. I’ll think about it.”

Face

“What’s up, my nigga?” QT answered his phone.

“Say, man. What’s up with ya sister? I told you that I needed her here early. I got a lot of shit to handle today.”
