Her words hit me like a ton of bricks. I made quick work of going to her and wrapping her up in my arms.
"You arenotgoing to mess this up. If anyone is doing that, it's me. I should've talked to you before taking things to the next level. That was my mistake."
I could kick myself in the ass. I took the little she gave me and crashed over the line like a horny teenager.
"That's the thing. I wanted what we did. Hell, it's tame compared to my usual exploits. Almost loving and that's freaking me out. I swear my mind is a fucked-up mess. Everything is warring, and I don't know how to deal. I've never been in this situation before."
I dry laughed. "Well, if it makes you feel better, neither have I. Some days, I feel like I'm in a minefield, and one wrong step is going to blow me to pieces."
Molly pulled herself from my arms. "See, that right there. I don't want that for you."
"Well, I can't control it any more than you can control how you're feeling."
Her shoulders slumped. "We're quite a pair, aren't we?"
"I mean we've done things backward since the beginning. In less than a month, we've gotten married, agreed to date. I've practically moved in here and now moved things along physically. It would be a mindfuck for any two people who don't know the first thing about relationships."
"So where do we go from here?"
Well, there was one thing I knew for sure. I didn't want to sleep without her. It's only been two nights and going back to being alone felt like someone was squeezing my heart.
"We continue to date. I take you out to eat like a real couple. I can go back to sleeping on the couch if you like." It would kill me, but I would do that if it was what she needed. "I won't rush you to have sex with me because that wasn't my intention. I'm aman. I find you extremely attractive, but I can keep my urges to myself until you're ready." Again it would suck now that I've had a taste of her, but I would do anything to see where this could go.
Molly sighed as she dropped her head to my chest. "I've made things awkward." Her groan rumbled against my pecs.
"You didn't make anything awkward." I rubbed circles along her back. "You communicated with me. From what I've heard, that's important in a relationship. We'll figure this out together."
After a few moments of comfortable silence, Molly pulled back and looked me in the eyes. "I don't want you to sleep on the couch."
I couldn't stop my lips from turning up into a smile if I tried. "Good because it really would've sucked to go back there. I mean I would've done it for you, but just saying, it would've sucked."
Molly chuckled softly. "I've gotten used to you holding me. I've slept better the last two nights than ever before. Had I known that, I would've let guys sleep over before this."
My hands went straight to her sides as I tickled a spot I knew would have her wiggling in my arms. "Hey now. No talk of other men in your bed. I prefer to think you sleep well because it’s me and not just some random asshat."
The devilish look in my wife's eyes made my smile grow even bigger. This was the look I preferred on her face. "If you say so."
"I do. Now finish eating so I can get you to work on time. I've already made you a lunch. I hope that's okay."
Molly's eyes softened. "You make one hell of a husband."
That was my goal. I just needed to not further screw things up by pushing things too fast. My dick wasn't going to like it, but he wasn't controlling things anymore.
My heart was.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
MOLLY
Parker
I'll be there in 5. Don't leave the building until I pull in.
My husband's message was about two minutes too late. I was already standing in the parking lot next to Elle's car.
"You can go. Parker said he'll be here in five minutes. No need to wait. I know you need to grab Savannah."
"Ummm no." Elle opened the driver-side door and tossed her purse inside. "There's no way in hell I'm leaving you to stand alone in the parking lot. Not with Ben lurking somewhere inside."
