“So why are you here?”
“Do you want a truthful answer?”
“I don’t just want a truthful answer, Cobra, I expect one.”
He nodded. A master of the game could answer a question truthfully, but in a way so as not to reveal their strategy. “The reason I’m here has everything to do with your mouth, Desiree.”
She chuckled at that. “What’s wrong with my mouth? Is it too sassy for you? Are you one of those men who dislike outspoken women? A woman who can hold her own?”
“It’s none of those things.”
He was tempted to smile at the confused look that appeared in her features. “Then what are you talking about?”
He studied it for a moment. “I think you possess the most tempting pair of lips I’ve ever seen on a woman.” And he had a feeling that one day, that mouth would be his downfall.
She stared hard at him for a second, and then burst into laughter. He loved the sound of her laughter, but wondered what the hell she found so amusing?
“Is that the best pickup line you’ve got? Honestly?”
He shrugged. “It wasn’t a pickup line.”
“Then what was it?”
“The truth. Your lips are full and plump. The shape of your mouth is perfect for your face.”
She rolled her eyes. “Do you honestly want me to think you cancelled my ride with Ron because of your fascination with my mouth?”
“It’s more than a fascination, Desiree, trust me.”
He could tell from the look in the depths of her hazel eyes that he definitely had her attention now. “Then, what is it?”
That answer was easy. “A desire that I can’t seem to kick.”
“A desire to do what?”
“To kiss you.”

Desiree felt her breath catch in her lungs, and she had to force herself to breathe. She frowned at Cobra, wondering what game he was playing. Hadn’t he taken a vow of celibacy? If that was true, he sure wasn’t acting like it. But then he hadn’t asked her to share a bed with him. He only wanted a kiss.
“Have you forgotten we don’t like each other?” she asked. He thought her mouth was fascinating. She could certainly say the same about his.
“I think we can put the dislike aside for one kiss, Desiree.”
“What makes you think I want to kiss a man I don’t even like?”
A smile touched the corners of his lips. “You might not like me, but you’ll like my kiss.”
This was madness. She should ask him to leave, then call her grandfather and ask for Ron to pick her up as planned. What was Cobra thinking, showing up here with such foolishness on his mind? All that confidence and charm had gone to his head. Did he think she would be so easily persuaded to give him whatever he wanted?
“And what if I don’t like it?”
“You will.”
God, Cobra was as conceited as they came. In fact, his arrogance reminded her of Aimery’s. But then, according to what the women in the ladies’ room said, it seemed that, unlike Aimery, Cobra was a good lover. An incredible one, even.
“You are so sure of yourself, aren’t you?”
