“Not deaf,” Simon retorted, getting a snicker outta Mal. “Not stupid. Shutmouth.”
“Now, now, children.” I shook my head, smiling and followed close behind Sev as the back of the hearse wobbled likethe shocks hadn’t been maintenanced in forever. “Malek…Ididtell you before that her tags were out, right?”
“Yeah, but that was when you first tailed her…and it was her own car.”
“Jesus, you twats need to pay better attention. Know what’s more annoying than payin’ taxes? Uselesscopswith a quota to fill. If you’re doin’ shady shit…I feel like I shouldn’t have to tell you that outdated tags are just another way to get caught.”
“Well, thank you, Paw-paw. We’ll get right on that. Way to ruin my filthy thoughts regarding that hearse. You’re such a fuckin’ killjoy.”
Every one of us stared at him.
“You did not,” I pegged.
“Oh, I sure did. First time she ever let me between those flexiblelegs.”
This explains so fucking much.
Dan palmed his face and sunk down into the back seat, Simon smirking while he averted his stare out the window. Malek flipped around, popping his head over his seat at Simon.
“That was the night we buried that soulless bitch that tried to kill you. Told you…you’re a good luck charm.”
“Idiot,” Simon scoffed, smiling. “Miss Black already want you. She bring to house. Never before. You just stupid.”
“That’s hurtful,” Mal pouted, pressing a hand to his chest.
“Thattrue.”
“Hush up…we’re here.”
Seven parked the hearse in the cut that we’d gone over with Dan before we left Leviticus, and I eased up behind her, shutting the headlights off. We unloaded everything and Malek set off to hide while we got ready to distract.
“Alright Sev. He’ll need at least twenty minutes once we’re in there to rig the place. You got a hiding spot picked out by that back door?”
She zipped up her jumpsuit and pulled her hair up in a messy knot. “Yep. I’m gonna wait until that guard makes it around the other side of the building, and then I’m climbing that fluffy tree that’s facing the door.”
“Remember,” I warned, dropping my voice. “Don’t move on it until you see Malek open that door. I don’t care how long it seems like it takes. One wrong move and things get hairy. Everybody ready?”
Nods all around.
I tied my hair back and slipped my contacts in before pulling the balaclava over my head. Seven palmed her hips.
“Really? That’syour plan? Some contacts and aski mask, Declan? That doesn’t seem suspicious at all.”
“It’s for Bridget. Just trust me. I know what I’m doing.”
She threw her hands up and stormed off, mumbling under her breath.“We’re all gonna die. Bunch of fuckin’…ugh!”
“I think it’s sexy,” Dan shrugged.
“Thanks, dude. Happy to take care of your dry spell…?”
“You ruin everything.”
Nobody loves me. Sigh.
