I slapped my hand over my face, wanting to die from embarrassment.
“It’s a natural supplement!” Jonathan cried as he grabbed the bottle from Gilda.
“Whatever you say, Viagra Boy,” Gilda snickered.
He turned to me. “There will be no second date.”
“Fine by me,” I said.
Gilda grabbed hold of him once again, pushed him out the door, and slapped her palms together as though dusting off her hands. “That takes care of that.”
A few cheers went up, and I was surprised to see Jacob grinning and shaking his head. When Gilda came back to her station, he pulled out her chair and patted her hand.
“Okay,” I said, trying to hold on to what little dignity I had left. “Let’s try this class again.”
The next forty minutes passed without incident, and by the time the class ended, I felt more in control of myself and the situation. I’d also come to a clear decision…under no circumstances would I go out with bachelor-from-hell number three.
Chapter 10
“Oh,” Gilda said, “class wasn’t so bad.”
“Not once you got rid of the colossal jerk,” Jacob added.
I sighed. Everyone had gone home, and it was just the four of us cleaning up. “I’ve made a decision.”
Mom lifted a brow. “What’s that, dear?”
“I’m not going out with bachelor number three,” I said.
Gilda scoffed. “You most certainly are. A deal is a deal.”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “The two you already set me up with were huge disasters. I’m not even sure what you were thinking?”
“We were thinking,” Gilda said, “you would be grateful there are people who care enough about you they want to see you happy.”
I swallowed hard. “I am grateful.” I laughed hollowly. “I’ve also realized that perhaps I am ready to move on.” I narrowed my eyes at Gilda. “Just not with the men you want me to move on with.”
Gilda lifted up her pointer finger. “One more. You agreed.”
“Ugh!” I cried. “It’s going to be horrific! You said he’s going to appeal to my…”
I couldn’t finish what I was going to say.
“To your animalistic side,” Gilda confirmed. “It’s okay to say it, girl. He’ll be able to sweep you off your feet.”
“Whoa!” Jacob said. “That might be a little fast.”
Gilda narrowed her eyes at Jacob. “You don’t get to vote. You’ll be too busy Saturday night going out with your own date. Yourseconddate.”
I groaned. “This Saturday?” I pursed my lips and looked back and forth between Mom and Gilda. “You promise this is the end? No more pushing me?”
“We promise,” Mom said.
“So, who is Saturday night with?” I asked.
“You’ll know soon enough,” Gilda said before turning on Jacob. “You, young man, have your first date tomorrow night.”
