“I’ll stay over here so you’re nice and safe.” Cassie pumped some shower gel from the wall dispenser and rubbed it onto her skin, slow like she was in a body product commercial.

Taryn glanced around. The other two women were seemingly oblivious to her extreme pain or simply too polite to make it clear they knew exactly what was going on. She positioned herself at an angle under the shower head so she could wash but maintain discreet observation of Cassie’s show.

Cassie locked her gaze on Taryn and didn’t let up. She lifted each of her breasts and spent far too long cleaning beneath them. She trailed her hands slowly over her stomach. She turned her back to Taryn and ran her hands along the length of her legs, bending over just like she had in the forward fold, and Taryn could’ve exploded right then.

“Oh god,” Taryn muttered and turned her faucet to cold.

The external temperature change did nothing to reduce the furnace burning between her thighs as Cassie continued her performance. If this was the first time they’d met, Taryn might’ve mistaken Cassie for an exotic dancer or Vegas show girl, not a highly respected ER doctor. Taryn closed her eyes but not for long; she couldn’t stop herself from taking in every last inch of sexiness Cassie was displaying. She almost wished she could be videoing the revue to use later—over and over and over again. Cassie really did have everything Taryn could want in a womanifshe ever thought about settling down. Which she definitely wasn’t. There was too much other turbulence in her personal and professional life right now to be adding that wildly left-field thought into the mix.

Cassie turned around again and arched her back to wet her hair, jutting her breasts toward Taryn.

“Come on…” Taryn whispered. “You’re not playing fair.” She glanced to her left, and only one of the women remained, but there was also an influx of people into the changing room, presumably for another class.

Despite the chattering, Cassie remained in the zone, her every motion slow and deliberate, intended to drive Taryn to distraction with desire. Finally, Cassie turned off her shower. She ran her hands over her body with the dual purpose of flicking off excess water and stoking Taryn to boiling point.

“All done?” she asked and smiled as if she were totally unaware of the effect she’d just had on Taryn.

Taryn shook her head. “I’m far from done,” she whispered huskily. Cassie would soon find out what revving her up like this would result in, though it was clear that was exactly what Cassie was hoping for.

Cassie shrugged her shoulders and padded back to her locker with a knowing smile and a killer sway. “Better be quick if you want a ride…” Cassie glanced over her shoulder, “home.”

Oh, there was going to be some riding, all right. Taryn was ready to go all night. She turned her faucet back to a warmer flow and showered quickly. While she’d been watching Cassie, she’d neglected to actually clean herself, and she didn’t want to waste any precious time doing it when they got back to Cassie’s place. If she had her way, she’d be inside Cassie as soon as her front door was closed.

Taryn grabbed a towel and used it to dry her hair as she wandered back toward Cassie. She registered Cassie’s nostrils flare, the tiniest twitch of her eyebrow, and the way she nibbled her bottom lip. God, it felt good to be this desired, thisseen. Cassie finished dressing and sat a breath away from Taryn as she air-dried and folded her dirty gym clothes carefully and put them back into her bag. The locker room was silent and empty but for them, and Taryn glanced at Cassie. She was leaning back against the lockers, her eyes firmly fixed on Taryn’s body.

Taryn half turned away. “Stop undressing me with your eyes.”

“I don’t think that statement can apply since you’re parading around buck naked.” Cassie pointed to Taryn’s clean clothes. “Would you like some helpdressing?”

Taryn raised her eyebrows. That would be something no woman had ever done. “How can that seem as sexy as the thought of youundressing me?”

“Let’s find out.”

Cassie rose but Taryn held up her hands. “Don’t you come anywhere near me, devil woman, or I won’t be able to control myself.”

Cassie gave her a wicked grin and whispered, “That’s what I’m hoping for.”

“Nope. Not yet.” Taryn pulled on her clothes unassisted then grabbed their bags. “Take me back to your place before you melt me into a useless puddle of need.”

Cassie hooked her finger in the deep V of Taryn’s shirt and pulled her in for a hard and passionate kiss. She placed her hand on Taryn’s chest, pushed her back, and dangled her car keys. “Your carriage awaits, my lord.”

Taryn liked the sound of that. She liked the sound ofeverythingthat came out of Cassie’s mouth. She hadn’t been this completely captivated by a person since… She blew out a short breath and followed Cassie up the stairs. Since never.

Chapter Thirteen

“You’re going out with her again?”

“I don’t know whether you’re happy or sad about that,” Cassie said. “There’s a lot to unpack from your tone of voice.” She got in the back of the Uber and told the driver to head to Cosmos.

“I’m conflicted, since you ask.”

Cassie laughed at Rachel’s dramatic pout and the way her mouth practically filled the whole screen. “And why are you conflicted?”

“Well, on the one hand, I’m impressed that you’re finally heeding my teaching and getting out in the world more than once a month. But on the other hand, I’m a little jealous that you haven’t invited me to come with you.”

Cassie kicked herself. She’d been so busy creating time to spend with Taryn by turning down extra shifts at the hospital that shehadbeen neglecting Rachel. And that wasn’t cool. “I’m sorry. I’m being a bad friend. There’s a party to celebrate how well the residency is going in a couple of weeks; I think you’re working, but maybe you could swap shifts with someone. It’s at Bernice’s hotel, and I think Taryn could arrange a room if you wanted.”

“Now you’re being a good friend again. I wouldn’t want to come tonight anyway; isn’t it a double date?”
