God, this woman is going to be the destruction of me.

I don’t care. Destroy me, Sunny.

CHAPTER SIXTY-SIX

TYLER

It’s beena long day with an early start and a late ending of dinner with my parents. Factor in all the turn and burn business trips I’ve been making recently, I feel it all catching up to me. I’m exhausted, but knowing Sunny will be waiting for me at home makes the day that much easier.

I get to come home to you.

Browsing Leslie's floral shop, I get to pick out three bouquets instead of two because I’m going to bring one home to Sunny, too.

I get the usual arrangement for my mother, purple flowers for Sam and sunflowers for Sunny because those are her favorite.

Sam walks around the flower shop, observing the numerous colors and types, holding her own bouquet. “Y’all are disgustingly cute.” She eyes the second bouquet of flowers in my hand.

I just smile at her comment.

“At least one of us has someone to come home to after a shit dinner with shit parents,” she comments.

It’s a hard thing to not worry about my sister. Her recklessness is the reason I’ll have grey hair next year, but seeing her anything outside of that adds another reason to worry. Cole was agoal, an end game for her. Now that opinion isn’t available, I fear she may not have sight of anything else.

“What about Anthony? Have you considered that?” I ask, opening her car door.

Her eyes flick to me, hesitation clearly in them. I lean on the door frame, waiting for a response.

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t,” she finally admits.

Smiling, I nod then shut the door and get myself situated in the driver's seat. “Explain.”

“Well, it’s Anthony. He’s sweet, he’s kind, he’s caring, and he knows me more than most people do. We wouldn’t have to go through that awkward stage, I’d hope. He’s handsome and talented and all the things a woman would want.”

“Anthony is all those things, no doubt.”

“But he’s also Anthony. One of my best friends, my twin pillar, he matches my energy. We all grew up in diapers together. He’s my best friend.”

You fight too much Sam.

“You know.” I lean an elbow on the car door and start the drive out of the city. “Sunny and I didn’t know one another for very long. So, I can’t say I relate to that. However, she and I considered ourselves best friends before, well, whatever it is we are.”

We still haven’t had that talk yet. The time is ticking as I still wait for unanswered questions. I just need more time that I fear I won’t get.

“You guys are different, though. You two were made for one another. Soulmates.”

We are made for one another.

“How do you know you and Anthony aren’t?”

“How did you know you and Sunny are?”

I contemplate on how to explain something that feels so unexplainable. It’s something I simply cannot put words to for her to understand its depth.

“It’s…” I start, but shake my head because the words die on my tongue. “It’s this undeniable, indescribable pull between us. As if there’d been some invisible string tying her to me.”

Sam’s eyes widen, and she blinks dramatically. “What the hell happened to my brother? Who is this mushy mess of a man now? Hopeless romantic?”

“I told you it’s crazy. But in my defense, Cole feels the same way too, about Macey. It was nice to know I wasn’t crazy,” I laugh.
