“What do you remember about the cavern?” Kaydon said.
“The pool, I remember that,” Seth said, feeling sure.
“But—after that, I remember…” Now he was less sure. “I just remember feeling arms around me.”
“We worked on you for over ten minutes,” Adria said.
Seth let out a soft breath. “Shit, I was probably dead.”
He looked up at the surrounding group. “You guys didn’t do anything corny like tell me you love me and cry over my dead body, did you?”
Adria slapped his side. “He jokes.”
Seth bit his lip and Adria said, “And I would never dream of doing anything so cliché. I prefer to tell my true loves in person when they’re alive, not dead.”
Seth felt his lips tug into a smile. “You do?”
She nodded. “That’s how I knew you couldn’t be dead yet. Because I hadn’t gotten a chance to tell you.”
Fuck, she loved him.
“I love you too,” he said.
Kaydon came and sat next to Bryson, putting his hand on Adria’s shoulder, he said, “Technically, I don’t think I actually heard her say the words. She just danced around them with her fancy mouth speak.”
Adria shot him a glare. “I love you three. There, I said it. Are you happy now?”
Kaydon broke out in a huge grin. “A little.”
Adria put up her hands. “You three are impossible.”
“Kay, stop it and just tell her,” Seth said, leaning his head back into his pillow.
Kaydon’s grin grew impossibly wider. “We love you, Wildcat. I think that’s pretty obvious.”
Their smiles were infectious, and Seth found that they were all grinning at each other like a bunch of teenagers.
“What happened with the Triune?” Seth asked, loving the vibe.
The room fell into silence, and Seth noticed Kaydon and Bryson looking at Adria.
“You guys are killing me. What is it? Kay, spit it out.”
Kaydon just shook his head. “I think I’ll let our Adria tell you.”
Seth’s anxiety spiked.
“Well,” Adria started. “We aren’t dead, so that’s the good news.”
“So, there is bad news,” Seth said.
Adria shrugged. “I suppose it depends how you look at it.”
“Oh my God, Dri, stop,” Kaydon said, flopping into the room’s recliner. “Just tell him.”
Seth shot his gaze back to Adria. “Tell me.”
Adria opened her mouth, but the words didn’t come out. Seth didn’t miss the pinkish color filling into her cheeks.
