Her voice is slightly raspy, and she clears her throat, before raising her arms above her head, yawning and stretching. She rubs her eyes with the back of her palms, sleep slowly leaving her features.
“Seven-twenty.”
Sophia groans, but stands up, grasping the covers to her body. Over the past week, she’s been in and out of my dorm more times than I can count, and she even took over two drawers of my dresser. One for her clothes, the other one for her accessories. I’ve never been in the same vicinity as so many damned ribbons.
She grabs some of her clothes and the uniform, then walks into the bathroom. Soon enough, the steam starts entering the dorm frombeneath the door, and it starts getting humid. How hot does she need her water to be? As hot as hell?
When she comes back, she’s dressed to perfection, barefoot, and reaching for the drawer. It’s Friday, meaning that the day we’ve been dreading is coming very, very soon.
After the public announcement of Sawyer and Astrid getting married, both Sophia and I have been summoned home by our parents. There’s a high chance they’ll force us all together again, and neither of us is looking forward to that.
Sophia pulls out one of her pink bows, then glances between the accessory in her hand and me. Slowly, she steps forward, pulling the top part of my hair into a small pony, attaching the bow to it.
She steps back, then laughs.
“You look adorable.”
“I do look good in pink, don’t I?” I smirk, winking.
She rolls her eyes. “Must you ruin everything?”
“I absolutely must,” I chuckle, taking the bow off my hair. Instead of returning it, I just pocket it. Sophia lifts an amused brow, but doesn’t comment on it.
“I’ll see you after classes, then?” She asks, grabbing her handbag and putting her heels on.
“Wait, I have something for you.”
Sophia frowns as I walk over to the dresser, opening the bottom drawer. It has a bag with some decorative paper inside, so the gift wouldn’t be seen. I hand Sophia the black bag, and she’s looking at it suspiciously.
“It’s not a bomb.”
She rolls her eyes, takes the bag, and slumps down onto the bed. The paper is the first thing she removes, then, as she pulls out the bag I got her, her eyes widen.
She’s silently holding the bag, her hands trembling. Her eyes dart between the bag and me, a handful of times, and a look of pure shock and disbelief appear on her face. Her brows scrunch adorably in confusion, her lips slightly pouty.
“Where in the world did you get this?” Her breathless voice makes shivers run down my spine, and I step forward.
“I have my ways,” I shrug. “You like it, I’m assuming?”
“Like it?” She repeats. “I absolutely love it! I’ve been looking for this bag for over six months! Thank you, Soren.”
“Open the bag.”
Puzzled, she puts her hand inside the bag, then whips out the small velvet box. When she opens it, her eyes widen even more, almost comically. She gasps, seeing the two pink sapphire diamonds she’s been looking for. One is a necklace, the other is a ring.
“You,” she stutters out, slowly putting the bag and the jewelry onto the bed, “you spent over a hundred thousand on me?!”
I don’t even get the chance to respond because Sophia hops off the bed, rushing toward me. She jumps, legs wrapping around my waist, her hands going into my hair. Immediately, she kisses me, her soft lips easing any worries I might’ve had.
The kiss is over before I want it to be, with Sophia pulling back. She’s still very close to me, and it takes all the willpower I have, not to tear her clothes off and have my way with her right here.
“Thank you, Soren,” her voice is soft, and a small smile. “I could marry you right now.”
“I don’t think our parents would need that kind of heart attack right now.”
She snorts. “I’m joking.”
“Well,” I poke her forehead with my finger. “The day I decide to marry you, you won’t have a sayin it.”
