“I don’t thinkthere’s much left in Beverly Hills for anyone else to buy,” I say as we walk into our suite, and I drop my handbag on the entry table. It’s our last night here, and I wanted to be back in time to see the sunset.
Watching the sun sink into the water, the sky shifting from blue to orange and purple, is the most magical thing I’ve ever witnessed. I know that we’ll be back here—as guests; I don’t need to own this resort—but I don’t know when that might be, and I want to enjoy it.
“But did you get everything you wanted?” Julian asks as he follows me inside. All my purchases today will be on the flight to go with us tomorrow. They were taken straight to the plane rather than back here to the hotel.
“I got things I didn’tknowI wanted,” I reply with a grin, and let him tug me into his arms, offering my lips up for a kiss.
This trip is exactly what we needed. I’ve never felt closer to Julian than I do now, and it’s absolute bliss.
I’m also a little worried that it might all get ripped out from under me, but I’m choosing to trust him.
To trustus.
“Come on,” he says, taking my hand and leading me out to the balcony.
My hand comes up to cover my mouth as I stare in wonder.
There’s a full table set in the middle, with white plates covered with silver domes. Candles flicker, flowers cover every surface in red, pink, and white. It smells fucking amazing.
Music even plays from hidden speakers.
“Well, who knew you could be this romantic?”
“Literally no one,” he says with a little laugh and wraps his arms around me, pulling my back against his front. “You said you wanted to eat here tonight, so ... dinner is served.”
He pulls my chair out for me, and when the dome is removed, my mouth waters at the sight of steak and potatoes with roasted vegetables. I’m starving.
Buying out Rodeo Drive will do that to a girl.
“You spoiled me today.”
Julian lifts an eyebrow. “I simply took you shopping.”
“Yeah and bought everything I looked at. You don’t have to do that.”
“I don’t have to do anything at all, Angel. It was fun. I haven’t shopped with you before.”
“Itwasfun,” I agree. “Thanks for going with me. It would have been boring without you.”
“You’d have your detail with you,” he reminds me, and I tilt my head to the side and stare at him like, really?
He chuckles. “How are you getting along with them, anyway?”
I refused to have Benji and Gary as my personal guards after the way they left me in front of my father’s house that day. Julian didn’t argue with me and assigned Danny and Jeremy as my guards. They’re both strong and big and they never smile.
“I actually like them,” I reply honestly, finishing my steak.“They’re respectful, and they don’t say much, but that’s okay. They’re giant and scary looking, and I feel safe when I can’t be with you.”
Julian nods. “Good. That’s the goal. They’re two of my best men, both trained in hand to hand, excellent marksmen, and they’re smart.”
“If they’re two of your best, maybe you need them elsewhere,” I say after pushing my empty plate aside. “Doing something more important.”
Julian stares at me for a full heartbeat, his brows pulled together, and then he stands and offers me his hand.
“Let’s go get comfortable.”
We sit on the sofa that looks out to the water, and the sky is bright orange right now, reflecting in the ocean.
I love it here.
