Ugh.

Reluctantly I spin around and close my eyes, enjoying the feeling of this gorgeous, ripped man touching me but knowing tonight is not the time to push him.

I haven’t forgotten about what happened back in Texas, but I’ve waited forever to be with the man I love, so I’m not letting those memories in.

Mom pushed me for an explanation when I spoke to her and said that dad was angry with me.

They wouldn’t be angry if they knew what I’d been through. But I’d rather have them upset with me than distraught over the truth.

Or judging me.

“Even your brother was worried.”She went on.

“Why?He saw me on Monday.Just because he had to go away to a conference—”

“What do you mean he’s away?”Mom asked.

“Jayden’s in Atlanta.I’m staying with Liam.”

Silence.

“Oh.Well, he’ll take care of you,” she said tentatively.

“He is,” I smiled and fought to keep the joy from my voice.

“Jessie, just remember those two boys are friends. The best of friends.Don’t do anything to cause any problems.”

“I know.God.”

She’s told me a thousand damn times. But what does she know? When everyone finds out, the joke's on them.

I always knew Liam was in love with me.

Well, perhaps he’s not in love with me yet.But he will be.

I think.

“What are you wearing tonight?”

Blinking, I wipe the water out of my eyes and turn as he kisses me.“Tonight?”

“The beach party.Ryder said Sav invited you.”

“Oh, is it tonight? Are you going?”

Liam squeezes both my ass cheeks.“Yes, I’m going.I’m not letting you go alone.”

“I see.So, you’re a possessive boyfriend.”

If I’d looked away, I wouldn’t have seen it.

Liam flinched.I shouldn’t have used that term, we aren’t there yet.But it didn’t feel nice seeing his reaction.

It’s not like I farted.

Swallowing my pride, I backtrack.“I mean, not boyfriend.Just whatever.Lover.”

He takes my face and kisses me, then turns off the water.
