Son of a bitch.I’d been staring for far too long.

Thankfully, as I jerked my gaze away, my phone buzzed.

I pulled it from the pocket of my jeans and swiped it open to see another text from Torvek.

Since I’d told him about Keuric being here, he’d been up in arms and freaking out. It had taken a ton of reassurance from me just to prevent him from coming down here and raising hell all over the bastard.

I sucked in a breath of relief when I took in his latest message.

Torvek:Enjoy your first class, snow cub.

Thankfully, a change in subject. He’d calmed about it now.

Well, maybe.

Evira:Thanks, flame bite. Tonight, I want updates on the Fanor of it all.

Torvek:Hell, woman.

Evira:Was Ignis Row a go?

Torvek:You just said updates tonight, not now.

Evira:Stalling, hmm? I’m sensing something juicy.

Torvek:Please never use the word ‘juicy’ to describe my love life again.

Evira:Love life, huh? You’re giving yourself away, T.

Torvek:Evi, settle into class.

Evira:Ruin my fun.

Evira:Jk. Love you.

Torvek:Love you, too.

I smiled to myself, then tucked my phone away, making sure to turn the volume off.

No sooner had I done that than a rush of heat rolled over me.

No… not exactly heat.

Simmering anger.

I swung my head to see Zayn standing at the threshold, his fiery glare zeroed in on Vaxan.

I saw Vaxan register it with his animal senses, his fingers stilling on the desk interface, before he then turned his head to take him in.

And there was a great deal to take in.

A great deal of hotness—pun intended to the max.

He definitely struck an appetizing visual.

His pink hair was all mussed and chaotic, actually more than usual from what I’d seen of him so far. He was all compact, hard muscle. And in his fury all that muscle was bunching, especially his biceps, even through the fuchsia long-sleeve tee he had on. He struck a primed pose in his pink and black striped cargo pants that had studs all over them. A bracelet made of obsidian gems with a pink worry stone was glinting all over against the lights of the room as he spun it around his wrist with jerky, harsh movements.

As two more students entered the room, he just stood there like an immovable wall, the students forced to edge past him.
