POPPY: She’s doing well, and we want to be really clear up front that Hattie’s on the mend. We’ve seen the messages. We’ve read the emails. We know you’re worried, but she’ll be alright.
This episode will do three things. We’re going to close the loop on the Allison Finch case as it currently stands. We’re going to share verified information directly from investigators. And we’re going to talk honestly about what comes next forThe J & J Hour.
NOVA: Nothing sensational. Nothing speculative. Just facts, context, and transparency. The way Hattie has always done it.
As of this week, the lead investigator on the case through Oregon State Police CID has confirmed that Chief Dale Galloway was responsible for the assault that led to Hattie’s crash. Evidence also confirms that he physically attacked her at the scene (audible swallow).
POPPY: What matters for Allison’s case is this. CID has been able to confirm that both Dale Galloway and Barry Galloway are now formally tied to Allison Finch’s disappearance and death. Dale Galloway is deceased, and his son has been charged with Allison’s murder.
NOVA: We spoke with Detective Casper Dalin of OSP CID earlier this week. This is a direct quote, recorded with permission.
DETECTIVE CASPER DALIN (recorded earlier):
“The investigation into Allison Finch is no longer a missing persons case. Barry Galloway was able to lead us to the site where he and his father buried her body, and has entered into a plea deal with the state’s attorney’s office. There will be no further questions at this time.”
POPPY: Detective Dalin also emphasized an important point, especially for our listeners who care deeply about ethical reporting.
DETECTIVE CASPER DALIN (recorded earlier):
“There are aspects of this case we would not have revisited without outside attention. That said, some lines exist for a reason. We appreciate responsible cooperation, and we ask for patience as we finish our work.”
POPPY: Now we know our listeners and our team are good at respecting the lines (audible cough). But we want to remind our listeners that law enforcement is still working on the timelines and specifics of this case toensure everything is airtight. What he’s implying, without saying it explicitly, is that the case is actively being closed in the system.
NOVA: And for those of you asking the hardest question, yes, Allison Finch will be formally laid to rest. Her remains were recovered based on evidence gathered during the investigation. Out of respect for her family, we won’t be sharing location details.
POPPY: She mattered. She was real. She deserved better than what she got.
NOVA: Now, we need to talk about the other issue. We need to talk about what happens next with the show. Hattie started this podcast to give a voice to people who were ignored. She never set out to be the story.
POPPY: What happened to her has forced all of us to take a hard look at how this work is done—the risks. There is a real line between advocacy and personal cost.
NOVA: So here’s what we can tell you.The J & J Houris not ending, but it will change. Future cases will look different.
POPPY: Hattie will be stepping back from the show, but you may start having rotating members of our team as podcast hosts. For now, this is a pause.
NOVA: We’ll post updates on the website. Until then, we ask for the same thing Hattie has always asked of you.
POPPY: Patience and respect.
NOVA: From all of us atThe J & J Hour, thank you for staying. Thank you for listening. And thank you for letting the people behind the stories be human.

Title:J & J Hours host attacked by suspect — episode confirms major shift
u/BackroadTruth: This is big. I’m not sure I’m okay with it? Like first of all we have this jackass that literally ran Hattie off the road. I’m glad he’s dead. Who the fuck cares about that jackhole? Not me. And if you do? Fuck you too.
u/LongFormListener: Poppy and Nova seemed okay, and maybe a shake-up would be good for the pod.
u/EarbudDetective: Who are these other people? Do we think they’ll do a good job? How come that we’ve never heard of them before? Isn’t this kind of bullshit?
u/coffeeandcorpses: You know what’s bullshit? That you’re even asking. Hattie gave them permission. Let’s just wait and see.
