“I’d prefer not saying why, but it’s not the birth control spells.”

My lizard brain was working on overdrive and putting the pieces together and I was pretty sure I figured it out. Morgana told us when someone changed their mind about wanting to get pregnant, everyone involved had to either take off their charms or dig up their spell jars and burn the contents.

I knew whereweburied ours, but there were probably spell jars buried all over this campus. If I came across someone digging up a spell jar, I’d just assume they were the ones who buried it, but if I was the one digging one up and it wasn’t mine, I’d probably get really paranoid if someone saw me.

I was a psychopath, but I only killed bad people. My family drilled into me to not leave living witnesses. I just made sure no one saw me, but yeah, I could see where a fellow psychopath with impulse-control issues would just murder someone who saw them meddling with someone’s spell jar instead of just pretending it was their own jar since any logical person would believe that unless it was their own jar.

I had to avoid pulling Doris out and playing with her because I just really wanted to slit this bitch’s throat. Meddling with birth control was also sexual assault. I had to pretend like that didn’t seriously bother me.

I needed to lay the trap and get out of here before I snapped.

“I know how to fix it, but I can’t do it right now because the moon isn’t right. There’s going to be a Super Moon on Winter Solstice. You and your mate meet me at the clearing outside the Fairy Garden and I can fix it. Just stop drugging people and messing with their birth control because it’s not going to work.”

“Yeah, we figured that out. We thought something needed to be healed, so we’ve been paying attention in class.”

So, Sage wasn’t seeing red auras because they’d moved past tampering with birth control and killing people who saw them. The campus was safe for a while.

I had Lola eating out the palm of my hand and she and Radames would be where we needed them to be on Winter Solstice.

We just had to figure out the magic needed to defeat them for good.

This was my least favorite part of my plan, but Liam was the only one who could do it. I was watching Lola like a hawk, though. I swear, if she touched Liam again, I was going to fly over there and rip her hair out. I’d been busting my ass in Magical Combat and Lola was probably failing because she barely participated.

Basically, I was certain I could take her.

“Let him handle it,” Lucian said. “He can deal with it.”

“I’m always at the top of my class, but I’ve got some impulse control issues. If she’d done that to my men, I would have gotten payback. If you want to go over there and wail on her, I’ll use magic to hold her down,” Morgana said.

“Not helping,” Khalid said.

“I’ll help,” Iman said. “Not calm her down, but scratch that girl’s eyes out.”

Mazen was looking at Iman with moon eyes that she wanted to get a little violent. She wasn’t paying attention to any of them. Iman was pretty zipped up and only revealed what she wanted people to know. I couldfeelshe was keeping some pretty big secrets, and she needed to get to know her guys better before she was comfortable spilling them.

“Can the two of younotencourage my mate when she wants to go beat up an unkillable void creature who can eat her soul?”

“Ifind it sexy when my insanely-powerful girlfriend wants to fuck someone up,” Elliot said.

“I have my hammer now. If someone seeks retribution because Iman scratched up their face, I’ll take their head off with it.”

Iman’s face and posture didn’t change with that declaration, but she was sitting right next to me and I could hear her start purring. Clearly, she liked that.

“Well, Liam is coming back over here, so no one needs to assault anyone,” Lucian said.

I tried to play it cool and not pounce on him when he got back so I didn’t tip anyone off. I managed to contain myself and just grab his hand.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“Fuck that,” Petros said. “Spill all her dirty secrets. Here’s your cookie back.”

Ivar glared at his cookie and then at Petros.

“Did youhaveto get your sweaty hands all over my cookie? I don’t want it now.”

“Is that from the batch I baked earlier?” Liam asked.

“Yes. I’ve gotten addicted to your baking.”
